Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great silver shampoo Have used this product quite awhile and I love it because the silver in my hair really look shiny and great after I use it plus the conditioning in this is very deep and makes my hair very soft and manageable

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Helpful, I Guess I've been using it about 3 weeks now with the corresponding shampoo. I only use it about once a week for maintenance. Pros: I guess its helping keep the brassy-ness out of my blonde, but hard to tell how my hair would be doing if I wasn't using it. Cons: it makes my hair feel unhealthy, coarse, and hard to brush through after I use it. I have to use regular conditioner after this one in order to brush my hair at all. I also don't like the smell - smells kind of like old people perfume or something.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product for the money! Definitely removes brassiness. If you leave on for extended time, will make your highlights more icy blonde. Smell is a little weird but not awful IMO.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Shimmer Lights Conditioner I like this conditioner for the toning effect I got but not so much as a conditioner. To be honest I have only used it once, but I had to use a leave in conditioner too. If you can't find the shimmer lights shampoo this is the next best option.

Do I use the shampoo and the conditioner everyday? Or a couple times a week?

Asked by: Mirissa7
I use it every few washes. If you use it everyday it may start to actually dye your hair purple lol. My hair is naturally blonde so maybe it is more susceptible to holding the purple color. Generally it strips everything out of you don’t overuse it! Washing hair everyday is not the best idea for any hair, anyway.

Do u use the same one for gray & blond hair?

Asked by: Barbara1954
Yes. Works well. If your hair is in really bad shape (over bleached) you may get a little purple so just don't leave it on too long.

My natural hair is beginning to grey with a dullness in the front and sides of my hairline. I don't plan on dying. Is this product good to use to get rid of the dullness?

Asked by: LadyLill
I use it to brighten my grays and like the way it works. I use both the shampoo and the conditioner. I don't use it every time, as I don't want the buildup that some people report, and I need a more robust conditioner most of the time.

Does the shimmer lights take the brassy blonde and darker blonde after coloring your hair?  Thank you. Jan

Asked by: Janice Summ
if your hair has more orange than yellow tones then a blue shampoo would do better than a purple one. i recommend fanola no orange

My hair was highlighted and is way to blonde for me. Will this shampoo tone it down or darken my hair?

Asked by: Sanibellady
to darken it you can use either a semi permanent or demi permanent dye. and whatever color you want, choose a level lighter because it will actually come out darker than what you see. i like wella's demi permanent line it's not damaging at all and you can add the ion booster step 1 to the mixture to lessen damage even more.

If I dye my hair purple/blue will this help maintain the color?

Asked by: lyssi123
no. there is a color depositing mask called ion pigments that would do that. this is more for toning blonde hair.

I usually buy the shampoo but wondering of I can use the conditioner instead. Does it work as well as the shampoo on it's own or do I need to use in addition to the shampoo. I keep reading that it's running. Does is work as well as SL shampoo?

Asked by: MDMomof5
No. The conditioner doesn’t clean effectively.  You really need the shampoo as well.

What Is the purple shampoo to tone down highlights? Or can you suggest something else?

Asked by: Sanibellady
Shimmer Lights purple shampoo and conditioner work well. If your hair is in bad condition, however, some of the damaged hair may pick up a little too much purple.
