Rated 5 out of 5 by from Decent shampoo It’s pretty good. It’s smells good and my hair feels clean after I use. I’ll probably be repurchasing tand trying other things in the brand too.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Harsh Clarifier This was very drying, even for a clarifying shampoo. It made my scalp itch quite a bit. You can accomplish the same thing with a shampoo like Come Clean without irritating your scalp.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Clarifying Shampoo & Conditioner Set Great clarifying shampoo & conditioner. We have really hard water here and these do a really great job of gently washing and rinsing out the minerals that cause hair to feel tangled, frizzy, and dull. The only thing that took away a star is the fact that the conditioner does not come in the larger size bottle.

Can someone explain to me how stripping your hair, like this shampoo is supposed to do, will leave your hair anything but dry and brittle? I have used an entire bottle of the Malibu Hard Water, and it really has done nothing for my hair.

Asked by: SarahBanana
There is a difference between clarify and chelating shampoo. Clarifying is to help remove oil, debris, and product from your hair. Chelating shampoo removes the minerals that are in hard water/well water. These minerals essentially form a scale on your hair that makes it dull and brittle. It damages the hair, especially long or color treated hair, because it attracts oil and debris, and it also prevents conditioning treatments from being able to penetrate the hair shaft. Usually both types of shampoo are only used one to two times a week and are usually followed up w forith a deep conditioning treatment.

I have thin, fine, naturally light blonde hair and very hard water.  My scalp/roots are very greasy, my length dry.  I've tried products with very little to no success.  Would this be a solution for my hair type and problems?  Please help!!

Asked by: SusanLHH
I love Ion Hair Care, I have been using them for years and they work great for me. My scalp/roots gets greasy as well. I would recommend purchasing a small bottle first and see how it works for you. You might want to purchase a small bottle of the Hard Ward Conditioner for you ends and just put it on your ends. Hope this helps.

How good does it work for dark hair

Asked by: Erispagetti
Made my hair yellow. It did take the build up out of my brown hair, but also turned it yellow on the lower half of my hair.

Is this good to get rid of the chlorine buildup for regular swimmers?

Asked by: Jasper66
Yes, it helps, but I believe they make a shampoo specifically for that also.

I tried this shampoo this morning and love how well it cleaned my hair. My hair is very shiny and soft. It did dry it a teeny bit but nothing too bad. Is this safe to use on colored hair if I wash my hair every other day or every 2 days?

Asked by: cherrypeach
No, I can tell you it will strip color, especially if it is a direct dye, one not used with developer like Arctic Fox or Iroiro, but it can also strip the color of an oxidative dye over time. It has a sulfate cousin which is actually a little more harsh, hence the drying, just condition your hair a little extra after using. I actually use this shampoo specifically when I am fading out my pinks, purples, peaches, and grays/silvers and suggest it to all my Rainbow haired friends, and tell them to steer clear of it while they are trying to keep their Rainbow locks, so I am so glad you asked. The best thing is to look at the ingredients and make sure that there isn't any sulfates or sulfanates, basically, anything with the "ates" at the end. Shea Moisture is a great line of sulfate free products and the True brand is also a good sulfate free brand and they are both carried at Sally's. Also, just so you know, just because it says "color safe" doesn't mean it's color safe, they hide behind different ingredients and don't expect us consumers to do the research we do. The best thing to do if you are not sure of an ingredient in the list is google it and if you don't have time at the store you can always do it at home and if it's a no go, take it back, Sally's will let you return things no problem :-) The world of color preservation is so much fun, it took me a while to learn it, but it was so worth the research and I am so glad you asked.

Is this shampoo recommended if my hair is extremely damage

Asked by: Eri07777
This shampoo does strip the hard of chemicals and water residue off your hair. If it’s already damaged I am sure it’s already brittle. I would be careful with this shampoo
