Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fave Clarifying Treatment I have brunette coloured, 2a/2B5, hair. I do the CGM so I had noticed my hair was very weighed down recently, constantly felt greasy even after shampoo washing, and was just limp and dull. I picked up a packet of this stuff. One packet was just right for my hair that is collarbone length. I only left it in for about 5 minutes, the lesser end of the recommended time to leave it on, washed it out, deep conditioned (just in case it left my hair dry), rinsed and dried and WALA! My hair was back! Soft, manageable, waves more defined, shiny, and no longer greasy looking. Felt very clean but wasn’t over drying. I’ll be buying this again :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works! I dyed my hair a darker blonde, and the ends came out looking green. It was BAD and I did not want to have to go darker to cover it, so I stopped by my local Sally's and talked to an associate about my options. She recommended getting a packet of this, and all I had to do was mix it with warm water and apply to towel-dried hair. I left it on for 15-20 minutes, applied heat with a hair dryer for the first few minutes, and then used a deep conditioner after rinsing. I was skeptical that it would work since it was so affordable, but when I was rinsing my hair, I could see the gel mixture coming out was green! This stuff really works! I wish I had taken a "before" picture, but I can tell you that I highly recommend this product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from getting rid of orange color I have well water at my house and I guess that causes the orangey red streaks I get in my light blonde hair. I use this Ion crystal clarifying treatment and it takes our almost all of the streaks. Sometimes I have to use it once a week and other times only every couple weeks, but it works and is easy to use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Helped Me Get My Color Right I purchased the blond brilliance color for my blond hair. It turned my hair greenish gray. They suggested using a clarifier and showed me a lightener. The clarifying treatment restored my hair back to the platinum blond.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Helps to remove hard water residue We have hard well water and even though it goes through a water softener, we still get rust and magnesium. I am not a salon professional and hesitate to recommend something to someone else because not all color treated hair is the same. For me, using Crystal Clarifying Treatment mixed with my first shampoo and left on for several minutes helps to remove most of the brassiness. It does dry my hair so I only use it one a month. It works for my light blonde hair and I like it very much! It might be best to consult a professional before using this product because I am NOT a professional.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great clarifier I have been using this product for years, I love it! Nothing takes the hard water and rust deposit off my colored hair like this product. I have always purchased in a Sally store, this time they were out so I went on line. They were on sale, on line! Happy girl...

If I’m using a hair dryer to acheive better results do I dry my hair completely

Asked by: Sissy0310
Are you asking should you use this with a hair dryer? I wouldn't suggest it. It's not a protein treatment where you leave it on until hard , rinse then follow with a conditioner. Think more like vinegar rinse. It's main ingredient is citric acid. Much like vinegar, you don't want to leave that on your hair a long time. I use citric acid from the canning aisle of the supermarket mixed with water to descale the hard water deposits in my teakettle if that gives you an idea. But unlike mixing up your own stuff, this formula is designed for your hair. I've used it before and it will not mess up your hair. It's simply a clarifying treatment for taking out the hard water minerals and junk, brings back the shine. I've even mixed up a packet for mom before when a toner was messing up her hair and it was not turning out well after washing. I am like, rescue the strands! I'm coming! Also takes out perm odors.Wash your hair. Then mix as directed and leave that on your hair for a few minutes. Rinse. Follow up with a conditioner and rinse . Hope this helps.

How does it work on dark hair? Does it take old color out? Like would I use this before coloring? Thanks

Asked by: Teslatigers
You can use it on any color hair. All it does it take the brassiness, redness out of your hair. It works best before you dye your hair. But if you do it after, wait a few days after you colored it.

How do you know if you have hard water? Is it terrain related, like rocky area of the country vs at a river Delta, which I WOULD THINK , MEAN S HARD IN THE ROCKY AREA, SOFT WHERE ITS MORE SILTY LAND.

Asked by: Sazbeaux0307
It shows up in your hair.

Is this safe in pregnancy?

Asked by: nae12345
Should be fine. The main ingredient is citric acid and citric acid is pretty much natural also in foods. Available in the canning section. Comes from lemons. This just is gentler on the hair than mixing up your own concoction out of the kitchen and way less messy. I don't think this would cause any problems for a baby.

Do I shampoo and condition before and after using this product?

Asked by: Beanpole79
I shampoo first only if I have a LOT of product in my hair. Otherwise just mix up the crystal clarifying treatment and mix it around well in your hair. I don't have time to sit under a dryer so I just put a plastic cap or bag over it and wrap a thick towel around it to keep in some head heat and do what I need to do for 45 minutes to an hour. Then shampoo and condition. Works like a charm.

I have brown never-colored nor chemically treated hair.  Fine texture/medium density hair that feel super, super dry with some frizz and dullness.  We have soft water.  I am concerned it will break or damage my hair pre deep conditioning.

Asked by: Wsgfit53
Typically you use this prior to a perm or color. If all you are doing is deep conditioning your hair, this has nothing to do with it, only chemical treatments.
