How do you know what developer to use with the hair dye you are using? Specifically using 20 vs 10 and 30 toner??

Asked by: calexander34
20 volume is the best for permanent color to to lift and deposit 2-3 levels and for covering gray. 10 volume can lift but mostly used to deposit color. 30 is used for 4/5 levels of lift so it lightens more.

Can you use this with any other brands

Asked by: Flakita5
I have used it in the Ion color and Paul Mitchell bleach. I can't remember if I used it in a matrix brand but I can't see why you couldn't.

How long does this developer last (expires)?

Asked by: Fudge123
I heard the shelf life is 6 years. I'm not positive though. Check with manufacturer! If you keep developer cap on tightly and store the product in a cool dark place, it will stay fresh and last longer.

It depends on the brand of colour. It will give you mixing instructions on back of colour or on inside of box.
