Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works wonders. I started doing my own hair when my stylist couldn't seem to get the blond that I was after. it always turned out red. And I don't like red hair on myself. I found the perfect lightening kit which actually makes me to blond but that's okay I just apply a toner and get it to the perfect shade and I love it that way without the Wella products I simply don't think I would be able to do my hair and I would be unhappy with what any stylist would come up with. Not to mention the fact that I can do my hair four or five times for what a stylus charges once. I love this developer because it doesn't stink and I can do my hair quickly with it and be out the door if I need to be. my natural hair color is just a dirty blond anyway so I can't speak for someone that has black hair it may take them a little longer. But all they have to do is call the helpline and get some tips on what to do. I'm sure that while I would be able to instruct them on what to do.

Does this product work after its been opened for awhile? Or are you supposed to toss after initial use?

Asked by: RileyRoo
Developer that has not been mixed with hair color, and is still in the bottle can be used for a later application. If you look at the side or the bottom of the container there will be a little symbol that looks like a can opening with a Number and an M (Usually 12M or 24M), this is an indicator letting you know the number of months after opening the product that it should them be disposed of. For professional advice on this product please contact the ion Help Line at 1-800-859-3112. Our hotline is open from 8:00am to 5:00pm CST Monday – Friday.

my hair is about a level 5/6 (medium/light brown) would this be good to take me to a level 8,9 or 10? what bleach/toner would you recommend with this too?

Asked by: madajanee
It should lift your hair about three levels. This developer is very harsh on the hair so just a warning. Make sure you don’t start at the roots or they will be much lighter then the rest of your hair. As far as toners go I’m not sure what shade of blonde you are going for but the wella toners are nice with a level 20 developer.

Do you have to mix this with something for it to work??? I want to bleach my hair but I've only ever used Manic Panic kits

Yes, you have to mix it with the hair color you want to use, according to the directions in the hair color.

I have usually used #20 for my hair. I had picked a light blonde and it came out pretty dark. Should I try # 30??

Asked by: Caroline52
Yes, vol 30 will make it slightly lighter. If it's really dark, I would normally add a little bleach along with the vol 30 & hair color. Deep condition right after & once a week

What level developer should I use? 10-30? If I'm toning my balayage? I don't want any more lift but want to even out brassy tones all over my head

Asked by: Olivia19
Have you used a blue shampoo yet? That will help with the brassiness. But if your toning your hair I wouldnt go over 5vol.(this was what a stylist told me once) Best of luck!
