Our Lightening Kit uses a 25 Volume Creme Developer, gentle enough for light brown hair but powerful enough to lighten darker hair as well. The Dust-Free Powder Lightener contains naturally-derived actives to help condition and protect the hair while lightening it, to minimize damage from the lightening process. Formula is Vegan and Cruelty Free.

  • Directions:

    1. Pour contents of the GDY Powder Lightener into a non-metallic bowl.

    2. Add 4oz. (120ml) of the GDY Crème Developer.

    3. Mix together to a smooth, creamy consistency.

    4. Apply to hair and let process for no more than 30 minutes until desired tone is achieved.

    5. Shampoo and rinse thoroughly.

    6. Once dry, your hair is ready for the GDY semi-permanent color of your choice.

  • Purchase two kits if this is your first time lightening your hair, or if you have thick or long hair, so that you have plenty of product with which to work.

If you have color on your hair now, and you have LESS than ½” of regrowth showing, put the GDY Lightener from root to end.

If you have color on your hair now and you have MORE than ½” of regrowth, apply the Lightener to your regrowth last, after you have applied the Lightener to the rest of your hair.

Virgin hair (hair without dye), lightens faster than color treated hair.

You can leave it on up to 30 minutes and then rinse out, shampoo and dry. Then lighten again for no more than 30 minutes 2-4 days later if you’d like it to be lighter, watching it closely as not to over process the hair. Since that would be your second time lightening, you may not even need the full 30 minutes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Flash Lightning's Lost Its Flash I'm a dyed-in-the-wool (no pun intended) Manic Panic girl and have used their dye for funky colors for decades. Naturally this included their line of lightening kits. I have, however, also used professional products, which I'm usually too lazy to mess with because ugh. Buying more than one product: boooo My Sally was out of Flash Lightning one fine day, and so I saw this weird thing boasting about Nashville for some reason like it's been even remotely culturally relevant since the eighties (sorry not sorry). But y'know it had oils in it and...ooooh 25 vol...yikes... Still, don't know 'til you try. Well... The powder is a blue base. Heck yeah! That's a hard item to come by with Manic Panic, and that's just how this comes! No extra searching, no going online. No poring over piles and piles of powder packets. If you don't know, the blue is a toner that kinda keeps the orange to a minimum. Which, I mean. Yeah? This worked very well lightening my hair, but I was starting from very light blonde. Since it's 25 vol you're probably not going to get dye-ready if you're much darker than dishwater blonde. And honestly I'd just as soon see a professional at that point. Something to think about. Oh my god the conditioning! I used this after a pretty long dye break - shaved head, virgin hair, the works - so when I washed this out of my hair I really didn't think twice. Until it was time to do my roots after a couple months and Sally had Flash Lightning again. Well duh of course I'll come back to you, Tish and Snooky! Oh my god. I had no clue how dry that kit makes my hair. Or rather, it had become so normalized I didn't notice anymore. It was like straw before I deep conditioned it and dried it. But this stuff here? It was like washing out conditioner. And when all was said and done, it was brilliantly soft, almost perfectly white...I can't recommend it enough. I hate to say it, but if you're a Flash Lightning guy or gal, seriously give this stuff a try. Their colors are legit garbage but this kit is the Real Deal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Safe and Effective I've used this a couple times and have had great results every time. It easily lightens hair and seems to be safer than most bleaches because it is 25 vol and has oils infused into it. I have long hair so I would have to use two kits to make it bleach blonde (one treatment makes my hair a light yellow). Just make sure to do your roots last so your hair doesn't fall out. Just make sure you have an open window or something when doing this because the bleach smell is strong.

Can this be used to highlight hair

Asked by: Mawlittlebit
Not a professional. But I can't see why not. I'd suggest purchasing one of the hair caps with the holes and also suggest picking a toner of your choice afterwards to help get rid of any brassyness after the bleach
