Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightens well I used this on my mothers hair to help even out and strip her current hair color (dark brown). My mother has collar bone length hair and it is wavy. We had to use 2 1/2 packets of the lightener and rather using 20 developer we used 30. Personally we believe more developer should be used then the suggested amount especially if want full coverage. Maybe if one had short hair or was just doing a section to lighten I would say follow the instructions but if have more hair should put about an extra oz or of developer, that way you wouldnt have to keep buying the packets like we did. Also dont forget to do roots last because even though we did so. It lightened her roots to almost a white blonde!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Did what it was supposed to. I purchased one of these packets and a bottle of 20v cream developer. 1:1 exactly made it a little thicker than I usually like my lightener so I added just a touch more developer. It was a nice consistency and applied well, swelled predictably and lightened better than expected. It is extremely drying (as most lightening products are) even with a cream developer, so I would caution anyone with extremely dry hair using it. I toned with Lavender Moon, one of the Ion Toners and then did a moisture mask. It looks absolutely lovely.

My hair color is black and I've grown tired of dyeing my hair black. I want to change the color to something lighter like caramel by Wella. How do I go about changing my hair color?

Asked by: Rosalind S
It will be extremely hard to change your hair color since you’ve been dying your hair black. You have to be prepared for your hair to become damaged & dry. Your color will not change in one application it will take more than one process of bleach to remove the black. Plus you might need some toner. I’d say YouTube how to lighten hair from black dye.

it says in the directions to use wella developer...can i use salon care? and also can a 30 developer be used on your scalp?

Asked by: mayaolivia
I am in no way and expert, just a hair enthusiast with 10 years of experience. Take my words in with a grain of salt. As far as I am aware no developer should be used on the scalp, first and foremost. Bleach will expand a little so you apply it to the hair a few centimeters away from the scalp to minimize skin contact. You always wanna do your roots last anyway as hot roots are a thing (the heat from your scalp aswell as bleaching new growth causes roots to lift alot faster than the rest of the hair) any developer can be used but most developers are formulated to BEST work with their corresponding bleach. I really love the Wella Blondor series and the Blondor cream bleach is by far the best I have personally used from sallys. Good luck. Your question made it seem as tho you had the 30 salon care developer already so if you don't head any of this information pleaaaseee don't apply it to your scalp directly.

How many packets would I need if I am only doing my roots (about 3-5 inches)? I have fine hair but I have a lot of hair. When I used a box bleaching kit I had to use two boxes just for my roots, three total.

Asked by: JessBlonde
Get 4 packets mix two first then use the next  .Since you have a lot of hair you want to make sure the bleach is still active by the time you get through the rest of your root. This way you’ll have fresh bleach for the last part of your head should you need it. Also it depends on how much developer you use. If you make the consistency runny or too thick will determine how much packets you need.

how should I make hair color lightened with a packet

Asked by: Oldmoron
I'm not sure what your question is but I am assuming you are asking how this product works. Wella Color Charm Lightening Packets are packets of powdered bleach that you mix with a developer. Wella's Color Charm 20 Volume Creme Developer is what is recommended in the directions, 40 volume is mostly recommended for professional use or for foils.

I’m wanting my hair to be blonde my hair color is dyed light brown .

Asked by: Hollie12
You can easily get blonde from light brown with this! I’d recommend 30 or 40 developer and checking it every 10 minutes for desired color. I’d also recommend a toner if you’re going to keep it blonde after lightening to get rid of the orange tones it may leave behind.

Naturally I am dark ash blond 2/ >25%+ resistent gray. Was using 8 A/N Soy4plex & hair has become ick brassy yellow. Don't want toner (another layer over too many layers). Do I use 30 Vol + bleach (how long yikes) then 20vol+ash color? ????

Asked by: sslainey
