Rated 1 out of 5 by from No Change Whatsoever I have dark brown hair and I got the ash blonde hi color for dark hair. I used 40 developer, left it on 45 minutes and no lift at all! My hair had no color previously. It is the save exactly color as before. Going back to straight bleach for my highlights.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works if you use developer with it Maybe this won't work as well for those with very dark hair but I like it a lot. I have medium/light brown hair and mix it with 20 vol. developer and leave it on about 20 minutes for very subtle dark ash blonde highlights. (I use a few foils sort of haphazardly). A stronger developer and more time would probably lighten more but I like the results with this. For my hair, anyway, it works great and doesn't leave my hair brassy looking. Your results may be different though.

I have color treated hair.dark/medium brown.I've been using Loreal Root Rescue 5G, every 4 weeks for the past 6 months. If I use this product "Hi Color Highlights for Dark Hair Only" to add highlights, do I need to use any other products, a developer ?

Asked by: fmp252525
The Loreal Hi Color Highlights for Dark Hair Only is a regular hair color and will need to have a developer to use. I actually use this as my all over color with a #40 developer for the greatest lift.

How many times do tou have to dye your hair with this product ( hicolor) the color blonde foe it to come out the actual bright blonde color is you have dark brown hair

Asked by: Ccendejas
Once, leave it for 20-30 mins but it depends on how thick your hair shafts are.  Crown is finer hair, it lightens quickly.  Near the nape of my neck, it stays darker since it doesn’t penetrate as easily.  This products give me highlights even when I’m not trying depending on locks of hair being finer in some areas.

Can this be used on the scalp? How many levels will this lift? Thank you

Asked by: 4catmom4
I do use it on my scalp, but it definitely makes my it sensitive. I haven't had any problems from it though. It lifts my hair perfectly. I would only have a guess as to the levels, but I'd say at least five, because I use 40 volume developer with it. I have medium brown hair with light graying.

Can I use a toner after? It lifted my hair to a sandstone blonde butt I need to get some of the brassiness.

Asked by: Steph279
Yes you can use a toner. I didn’t cover my white hair though and turned my black roots to orangy tone when I used it without a toner.

I have had dyed black hair for over a year im pretty sure it faded to dark brown will this work with a 40 developer to get my hair light enough to color nermaid blue.

Asked by: Steph576
It will turn your hair a orange color so the blue may not show up at all. You need to use color erase product 1st to strip the hair of its black/brown artificial color and see how light you can get it. Stripping the hair can damage it so use precaution and follow with a deep conditioner!!!!
