Rated 5 out of 5 by from One and only!!!! When I first started dyeing my hair years ago I paid alot for a salon and it looked like my roots were already showing so I thought I'll do it myself. I feared the stories of what color it would turn out to be. But I used Loreal excellence creme 8 1/2 and it was easy to use, perfect color, and my natural highlights still showed up without grey!!!! Until this day I have never changed because it works and I love it!!!! I even tell my friends and family how easy it is and pray they never change. I always keep a few on hand just in case!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bring back Light Chestnut Brown! I have been using L'Oreal Excellence Creme for several years, and have used several shades. My most recent favorite was Light Chestnut Brown, but it has been discontinued. I'll be trying other shades of light brown, but would love to see Light Chestnut Brown return!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Results I am starting to get some grey hairs and just colored my hair for the first time ever using L'Oreal Excellence Creme. It was easy to use, my hair came out soft, and the color was exactly what was shown on the box for before and after. I couldn't be happier with this product.

What developer do I use with this?

Asked by: Lbonnier
Any CREME developer. They recommend 20 or 30 volume. I am all gray and 20 volume works great.

Does Excellence Permanent Creme Hair Color for Grays require a developer? This is not mentioned in your description. If so, what is recommended?

Asked by: charj130
Yes. I use 2 ounces of Salon Care 40 volume creme developer.

Hi, I have natural medium to dark brown hair color. Are your products true to color, or do i need to go a shade darker or lighter when I pick the product? I'd like it to come out looking like my natural color. Thank you.

Asked by: creid781
I have been using Loreal Excellence creme gray coverage permanent hair color, Lightest Golden Brown, 6-1/2.3 for 20 years. My hair was dark brown, although pretty well gray now, but I have always used the Lightest Golden Brown to achieve medium dark brown. Anything darker will result in black hair for me. I keep it on 30 minutes before rinsing.

My hair is naturally very dark brown (almost black) with no graY and I just want to lighten it a shade or two lighter with no red or orange undertones. Should I do the 5.5N med brown or 5AB Mocha ash? What’s the difference with the extra lift on the 5.5N?

Asked by: Kimv23
Hi Kimv23! For the L'Oreal Excellence Creme we would recommend the 5AB Mocha Ash Brown since the color has ash tone in it to suppress red/orange tones. The shade 5.5N is a half shade lighter than the 5AB but also is a neutral tone so it doesn't have the ash to suppress red/orange. Thank you for your interest in L'Oreal.
