Rated 1 out of 5 by from Washes Out after 1 wash I was hopeful that this would work as a “refresher” between all over coloring. If pretty much just washed right out during my first shower after use. The water running off my head was solid brown and my grays are visible again. I will try a different brand next time. :(

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So much better than permanent! I recently switched to semi-permanent after 30 years of permanent. I have to commit my hair every 6 weeks due to the gray outgrowth and this color lasts just long enough. I love the lighter odor, and the color tone and shade are perfect. I also love that I can stop using it, and after a few weeks, I can see what my true color looks like. I don't think I'll ever switch back to permanent again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 5star Great product! Covers the grey. Can use as much or as little product. If you don’t use all the liquid, the Bottle keeps unused product good till the next time you use it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from consistent product Have used this product for at least 10 years and has worked perfectly for my mixed grey hair, and not too harsh.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Long lasting all over It’s easy to put on, and it lasts at least three weeks with no discernible change in color, anywhere – even around the edges. I like it a lot and I wish they would make it in more colors

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Partially Good Results I was looking for a "natural" shade of red, which this did accomplish where it covered my silvers and lightest greys from my hairline to the crown of my head. However, my darker grey hair in the back didn't take the color as well, and it washed out pretty quickly, leaving me with a two-toned red/brown overall look.

I've colored my hair for years -- permanent color. Now my hair has gotten thin and sparse so I'm looking for a solution that is easy on my hair. Is semi permanent color easier on hair?

Asked by: Elizavideo
I've used only Clairol's semi-permanent hair color on my hair since I turned 40 three decades ago & have found it to be quite gentle on my hair. I've been using the Advanced Gray Solution in the past year and I like how it makes my hair look and feel .Plus, its easy to apply and process--- no noticeable hair loss or damage. I always use a color sealer after processing to protect my haircoloring & make it shine. Also, I usually add a product called Gray Magic to the hair dye ,before I apply it . It seems to make the color last longer.

Hi! I wanna spice up my hair. I have ashy, cool light/medium brown hair that appears almost greenish in some light, while slightly golden in the sun, and muted tanned warm skin (I think with yellow tones?). What temp color would look best on it?

Asked by: Meowmaster
light golden chestnut, I think would look fabulous, I use this product faithfully for many years . It protect my hair as well as giving it its natural shine.

after I color my scalp itches for 2 wk. I am not ready to go gray yet. would a semi-prem. take care of the issue? I have been coloring with a very dark brown. I am very gray.

Yes, I would not dye my hair anymore, if you are just covering grays. Dyeing and lifting color damages hair a great deal. You are Blessed, because now you can just add pigment to those white hairs. I started going gray at 17. When your lose pigment in your hair, you also lose in your skin tone as well. So you should not try to stay your youthful hair color. You need to be lighter with your hair. With this product, since it will not lighten your hair that still has pigment, just coat it, you can now have highlights, without much effort! Since at this time it is your roots, maybe stick to a color with this product close to your shade. When the dyed hair has grown out long enough, then start experimenting with lighter shades for highlighted effects. This product should not disturb your scalp or skin. Be careful though because it will stain your skin and scalp for a day or so, if you don't wipe it off. It will also stain your sink, or counters. If that happens, just use household bleach, as leave a drop where it has stained and it will wipe off in a few minutes. Leave this product on your hair for a good two hours so it will last through many hair washings. After the two hours rinse your hair, until the water almost runs clear. Then shampoo a time or two, rinse until hair almost runs clear. Condition, again rinse until the water runs clear. If you keep rinsing until clear the results will not be the shade you may want, and be too light. Wrap in a dark towel, or a towel you don't care is stained a bit. Either natural dry or blow dry with whatever hair products. Make sure your hair is completely dry, so that this products sets, and won't rub off on your pillow case. If you are worried, sleep with an old towel on pillow to test that it has set properly. I hope this helps. It is a different way to live, but there will be no more damage to hair and scalp. =D

I’m 66 with thinning hair and my beautician uses the dark brown on me. Gives my black hair the look of hi-lites by covering my gray with the dark brown. Hope this helps. I haven’t had any problems with this product as I was and deep condition my hair every week .
