Rated 4 out of 5 by from Gray or is it Grey Hair - Coverage Got the Gold. Left 15 min. It came out super yellow. Awful color. However, it covered REALLY well. My hair: In great condition. Didn't color it for months, so basically unprocessed hair. The gold went on a deep brown and looked like it colored immediately. I was suspicious, so rinsed it after 15 minutes. That was enough time. I looked in the mirror and it was an awful dark yellow. I shampooed it twice. Did not take out the color. I am impressed with the coverage. And the color simply won't work. I liked being able to use it right out of the bottle. Fantastic! It's a liquid. Goes on really easily. I didn't use the entire bottle for my shoulder-length hair, so economical. If it wasn't for the horrid color, I'd be really happy using this. Though, I am sure this will be perfect for someone's hair.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst semi permanent hair dye I have ever used! This is the worst semi permanent hair dye I have ever used! I bought a few bottles of the rosewood brown and it is the messiest/runniest hair dye! It stains everything orange and it didn’t take to the ends of my hair, just gave it a slight orange tint. So now I have about an inch of red hair and the rest is orange. Will not be buying this product again!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Extremely orange and temporary I tried to use this to tint my eyebrows (very light hair because I'm a redhead) but they ended up vibrant orange instead of reddish brown. It's ok though because it washed away after one shower.

Is this ppd free?

Asked by: Ajay Coca
There is NO PPD or toulene in this product or hydrogen peroxide or ammonia. Do not use the gray formula of this product because it had PPD in it.

Is this a kit that has what I need to color my hair or do I need to buy an activator, gloves, etc?

Asked by: Miss Dee60
Not a kit. But DO use gloves. I use latex, they are better fitting. I shampoo first to get all products out, i.e. gel, spray, etc. I'm not good at separating/parting so onto towel dried hair, I just drag the bottle through my scalp, moving around to get as much root coverage as possible, use whole bottle as my hair is thick. Cover with cap. I only leave on 8 minutes but it covers gray completely. After rinsing, I shampoo really well (with a color protector shampoo) as this stuff really sticks to your scalp and I don't think that's healthy. You will be amazed how much color keeps coming out in the suds. The rinsing alone doesn't remove it.

How to apply

Asked by: Bonnie68
Just use the opened nozzle and apply to the greyest area first. Continue applying to the remaining area. Leave for 30 minutes. Wash out.

why is it that 14K Gold is turning my hair red instead blonde? Been using this product for over 20 years. The last 3 bottles I bought turned my hair RED and I hated it. Such a disappointment missed a very important engagement.

Asked by: jasmine777
I also have been using this same product for many years & now it is turning my hair purple. They must have changed something!

Is this product more like Loving Care or Natural Instincts? I'm looking for a replacement for Loving Care. Natural Instincts is damaging.

Asked by: LindaMB49
It’s more like loving care. It will not lighten hair. I used loving care years ago and have been using this since loving care is not available. I really like it. It just covers my gray and makes my hair shinier. No roots, just a gradual fade.

Just got my hair dyed with permanent red hair dye and it turned out way more cherry red than expected. Im trying to brown it out a little, make it more auburn. Could i put the reddish brown over my ombred red hair?

Asked by: Anna1996
Because you want to tone down the red you need to use an ash color. I would try a temporary rinse in a medium ash blonde. If you don't like the result it will shampoo out quickly. If you like the color result, then go for a similar Beautiful shade which, tho' not permanent, will last longer and cause less damage than a permanent color. You can also adjust to a lighter or darker shade, but your best results will be in the ash blonde range.

It Is safe if I’m pregnant?

Asked by: Santana80
First of all I am not a physician, but I can tell you this from my experience.   I have never found a gentler product than Clairol Beautiful.  The trade-off is that it is not permanent or even semi-permanent and you must redo the color to keep it bright after a shampoo or two. I find the trade-off worthwhile.

Can I leave in overnight?

Asked by: Starbabylondon
Put a plastic cap on and sit under a dryer for 30 minutes.  Will look wonderful!  If I don't sit under a dryer it won't take for me in 30 minutes especially on my edges.
