Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Results I have medium texture hair. Started transitioning 15 months ago. Couldn't handle the frizz and dryness. This product solved that to the nth degree. Wish it came in mild and could purchase the products individually.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My hair is so soft Went to the beauty salon. The hair dresser used a "Super" relaxer on my hair. I told her that I used "Regular" but she said she is licensed and will put something in the "Super" relaxer to make it not as strong. Her employee took forever to apply the relaxer and my head started hurting before she finished. Never again! My head was sore for 3 weeks. I WENT BACK TO RELAXING MY OWN HAIR WITH OPTIMUM RELAXER REGULAR, AND I AM HAPPY ONCE AGAIN!! My hair is soft and manageable. AFTER WASHING AND USING THE "LEAVE-IN-ANTIBREAKAGE" PRODUCT, I use Proclaim Glossing Polish BEFORE DRYING MY HAIR with my dryer which has an attached comb. My hair is amazingly soft!!!!!

Can the relaxer be applied if products are in the hair since hair can't be wet or shampooed 3 days prior? If not please clarify how that is supposed to work for our hair going 3 days without product.

Asked by: Gerry
Hello Gerry! Thank you for your interest in the Optimum Defy Breakage No-Lye Salon Collection Relaxer. It is not necessary to shampoo before applying the relaxer. The hair does not need to be clean for the product to work. If a heavy buildup of hairspray or styling products is in the hair, shampoo 72 hours before applying. Vigorous combing, brushing, or shampooing can sensitize the scalp causing irritation. We hope this information is helpful.

Does relaxers expire?  I purchased a kit and the box looked of a faded color inside like old mail discolorates to the cream looking color instead of white. Box # 30s901

Asked by: Skinny
Hi Skinny! Thank you for your interest in Dark and Lovely Optimum Care Salon Collection Relaxer. This lot #30S901 reflects a recently produced lot of relaxer.

Is activator included in the professional optimum smooth relaxer system mixture step 2? I’ve used the kit for years and always needed to add activator separately. Bought step 2 online. Do I need activator or is it already mixed in?

Rephrasing my question... I have curly and frizzy hair in my roots. From the ear length to the shoulder it’s straight because a year ago I went to a hair salon for keratin and a relaxer treatment. Which of the two strengths do I have to use? Super or reg?

Do I have to use the last step strengthener?  It made my hair very sticky and greasy?  Otherwise, I liked the product.  Thanks

Asked by: Joan
Hi there Joan! Thank you for your interest in the Salon Collection Optimum Salon Haircare Defy Breakage Relaxer Regular Strength. We suggest the leave-in conditioner for optimal performance. You may wish to try using a smaller quantity, depending on your hair texture and density. Usage amounts can vary.

I would like to purchase additional Defy Breakage Leave in Strengthener that comes in the relaxer kit.  Where can I purchase it?  Is the Dark and Lovely Damage Slayer Leave in Spray the same thing?

Has anyone used without the last step leave in strengthener?  Did you still get little breakage without using it?

Asked by: Joanietpw
I am a licensed cosmetologist and absolutely love this product. I have used is without the leave in strengthener before and had no abnormal breakage. I must be honest the leave in strengthener and conditioner is my favorite part. I wish they sold the leave in and conditioner independent of the relaxer.

I have permed hair and i am looking to permanently take my perm out , will this be a good Product for me? And also plan on getting my hair cut , should i do this treatment before or after the cut? Sorry for so many Q's .... T.I.A! :)

Asked by: Martinez2020
You probably want to ask a professional stylist. This is a relaxer so it is going to straighten your hair. If you want to take perm out this is he opposite effect.
