Need some type of adhesive
The practice finger is perfect to use when practicing nail designs. Now you do have to use a small piece of tape or adhesive to hold the nail on the finger. But this allows you to use the nail over repeatedly

Can’t you take of the nail one you do the acrylic and every thing
No you probably couldn’t take off an acrylic the hard plastic would adhere to it to wear u couldn’t get it off without breaking it

can you still glue a nail onto the fake finger or do you have to use the insert?
Yes, you can glue Nail Extensions or use Swiss Silk Self Adhesive Wrap Tabs on Nail Extension.

Why is the cuticle area on this finger so separate from the nail surface?. Is it to help for a much quicker clean off?. Just wondering.
It's made that way so you can insert a nail tip in that space.
