What's the best way to tease the hair at the crown?
Teasing or backcombing, as stylists call it, gives hair an instant lift. To tease the crown, first brush through hair to remove any tangles. Next, hold the hair straight up with one hand and, with the other hand, use a teasing comb, moving it down the length of the hair from the end towards the base of the scalp in short strokes. Repeat the process until the hair has the fullness and height you want. Spray newly teased sections with a firm hold hairspray. To finish, gently brush the crown back, smoothing the top without disturbing the "hair cushion" underneath. Pin the ends with a mini-sized bobby pin. Rough handling can damage hair, so try to be gentle and don't tease your hair too often.
