Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly recommend PERFECT for highlights or ombre. It smelled so good and did minimal damage. It is bleach so of course there will be some damage but my hair wasn't all stringy and dry as it has been with other bleach packets. Doesn't burn scalp or eyes or any of that!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not worth the money I’ve used ion bleach before the one in the tube it worked well but this one barely lightened my hair. Used it to bleach my roots and it barely made it light brown and I left it on for 30 mnts. Roots are virgin hair so this should of lightened my hair a lot but it didn’t. Waste of money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Curls bounced back! Feel like the measurements weren’t correct. I bought a small one bc I don’t have a scale and thought a single use packet would be measured out correctly. Upon researching a bit after, my consistency wasn’t correct even though I measured with the bowl. That’s my only gripe. Lightened well although a bit uneven but I’m not a professional. I’m not sure if it was my ring light I was using for extra light, but I did notice that my whole left side toward the light, lightened quicker than my right side and I worked in 4 sections left bottom, right bottom, left top, right top. Just something to keep in mind if you’re using a light close to you. All and all, I was happy. I used 30 developer since my natural hair is dark and thick. After toning and conditioning, my curls bounced back great! That was the part I was most nervous about.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful results I will never use another bleaching powder again. My natural tone is a cool mushroom brown and other powders turn my hair orange and yellow. This takes my hair to even Elsa white. I love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this product! Best results I’ve had with a lightener. Conditions hair and lightens evenly. Was able to get my hair dirty blonde (with assistance from a toner of course) from dark brown, previously dyed hair in about three sessions that were spaced out enough to prevent any damage from happening.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from worked great I loved it, it worked great and mixed with the sensitive scalp developer, it doesn't give off that really strong bleach smell I hate. Great product :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Watch the time Make sure to take it off after 20mins. I left it on too long and it brightened my hair so well! Too light for me but I cannot lower stars.

Can I use this packet with dandruff shampoo and developer to help “boost” lightening? I’ve got some color buildup and my roots are dark brown.

Asked by: MermicornMama
Are you talking about bleach washing/ bleach bath?  If so, that is best done with clear clarifying shampoo and volume 10, applied to damp hair for approximately 10 minutes.  This will get rid of color build up, however, it will leave dark brown roots looking “hot” or strangely orange.  To boost lightening, just mix the lightener with appropriate level of developer and leave on long enough to reach desired level of lift.

Can you save or reuse lightener?

Asked by: Blue bird
If it has been activated by developer you have to throw it away after use.  You can save left over lightener only if it’s in dry powder form.

Do I have to have unwashed hair? Will it work on my hair that was washed last night, after working all day?

Asked by: Sammie25
It works on washed or unwashed hair. Unwashed hair simply has more oils in it to protect your hair from damage. Washing it the night before is great. I avoid putting product in my hair if I’m going to bleach parts, so that the product doesn’t interfere with the bleach process.

My hair is med-dark brown and last colored 6 months ago, would like to go lighter. Can I mix equal parts of ion non ammonia lightener, developer and shampoo to perform a color wash to remove the dark hair color? Would I need to use a regular hair lightene

Asked by: WmAlmighty
That is exactly how I used this lightener, as a bleach bath/ bleach wash. However, my starting level was 7 or 8. If you lightening from brown, be prepared to cancel out some orange/ gold tones after using this lightener, or have a new color ready to go.

Can you use another brand of developer with this ion powder packet? I still have some Salon Care 30 developer left.

Asked by: Pump Doll
You can. I personally use the Ion Vol. 50 but you can mix and match brands. Just always be consistent with the vol strength.

Hi! Can you plz tell me If using the Ion Ammonia Free Lighting powder & not using it on my scalp, what vol developer 20 ,30 or 40 should I use that will best lighten my hair the most?

Asked by: nichole123
I use 20 volume. I have found with 1 packet 3 oz of developer is sufficient. Sit time with a loose plastic bag on your head is about an hour. Hope this helps.
