1. To create the best blank canvas for your color, we recommend that you first lighten your hair with our easy-to-use GDY Lightening Kit.
2. Our semi-perms work best over pre-lightened hair, levels 7-10. Please refer to individual colors for the best starting level.
3. Squeeze your color into a plastic bowl. Remember: wear gloves to prevent staining on your hands.
4. Do a strand test before applying the color all over your hair to ensure you love the look.
5. Divide your hair into 4 equal sections and apply dye directly onto dry hair with a color brush or your fingers.
6. Make sure the color is fully saturated throughout each section by applying a dollop of color for every two inch portion of your hair.
7. Gently emulsify/massage into the hair to ensure coverage.
8. Let the color sit on your hair for at least 30 minutes.
9. Rinse with cool water.

Stoned Pony is most vivid over levels 9-10.

To lengthen the life of your vivid color, try these tips from our in-house stylist: 
Skip shampoos and warm water. The more you wash your hair, the more your color will fade. When you do wash your hair, use a paraben & sulfate-free shampoo. Rinse with cool or cold water whenever you do shampoo.
Use conditioning treatments! You can use a paraben & sulfate-free conditioner as a hair mask. Leave it in for 10-15 minutes and rinse.
Re-deposit color with a custom at-home mix. Put a few drops of your GDY color into your shampoo and conditioner and mix well. This will put pigment back into the hair anytime you shampoo and condition.
