Rated 5 out of 5 by from EVA NYC Blonde Shampoo I LOVE this! (Conditioner, and leave in mousse, too.) The shampoo and conditioner brightened my platinum blonde so well. My hair was soft, shiny, and it smells AMAZING. This works very well for me, and I use the shampoo, conditioner, and mousse together.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Left Bulid Up On My Scalp Loved this product at first, but over time it left a lot of build up! Didn't dry my hair out like other purple shampoo! There are better ones out there!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best purple shampoo on the market I have tried them all! For a while, I was using the Eva Nyc Tone It Down! Blonde Leave-in Foam with great results. When I saw Sally was having a BOGO 1/2 off sale on liter shampoo and conditioners, I decided to try it. First off, the scent is unlike any other purple shampoo I’ve tried. I’ll compare it to L’Oréal Shimmer Lights since that seems to be the most popular. L’Oréal smells like an elderly woman, with a hint of play-dough. Eva Nyc has this fantastic scent that lingers long after my hair is rinsed. If you’ve tried their other products, it is a very similar scent. I first tried the shampoo on dry hair (the dry hair will absorb the purple pigment faster than diluted wet hair) and let it sit for about 30 minutes. While Shimmer Lights does have a bit better pigment (I have ombré hair and Shimmer Lights always turns my blonde ends white with a purple tinge), Eva Nyc completely rid my hair of yellow tones and absolutely faded the orange brassiness in my darker hair. Also, it does NOT dry my hair out like Shimmer Lights. In fact, as I’m applying the shampoo, I can run my fingers through my hair- that’s how healthy and conditioning the SHAMPOO is. It’s also free of sulfates and parabens which won’t damage or dry your hair out. The conditioner is another favorite. It’s the only purple conditioner I’ve used that actually feels like it’s helping the brassiness (most purple conditioners I’ve tried just look like a dull blue with no real pigment once applied to the hair). Eva Nyc purple conditioner is super pigmented and leaves my hair seriously silky soft. Beware! This stuff has stained my counter and a shirt (which really shows you how great the pigment is!). I use it every day after bleaching since it’s not drying or damaging, then every 2-3 shampoos, as I feel the pigment lasts through a few washes. I will never, ever go back to the smelly, chemical-filled, drying shimmer lights or waste money experimenting with other purple hair products. I do recommend the leave-in foam as well, or even just the shampoo, especially if you’re on a budget and can’t afford both the shampoo and conditioner.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The scrumptious smell - Nuff said I have only used a couple of times and haven't noticed a difference yet. It might take a few times, which is fine. What I absolutely love about this product is such a small amount is needed to get a good, thick, cleansing lather. The best part, which I have found true of the entire Eva NYC product line, is the smell! I would buy this just for the smell, but luckily, it works great you!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Tone It Down Blonde Shampoo is just okay I don't like the smell of this product at all. It does seem to help a little with the color, but I won't buy it again

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! Took the brassiness out of my blonde hair the first time. Now that I am a brunnette, some yellow was peeking through and it worked for that as well!

Is this shampoo safe for gray hair?

Asked by: pnc12340
I went into the store looking for something to brighten gray hair. The store manager recommended this product. I tried it...and it works plus it does not dry out my hair. I have been using it for about a year. Love it.

my hair is blonde and i want it more grey, would this work? how efficently and fast?

Asked by: karissa707
Depending on the lightness and porosity of your hair,  this could totally get you to grey.  It’s also very conditioning.  For extra grey, I would put this on dry hair for ten minutes and rinse without shampooing.  The bottle warns of possible discoloration; I’ve had my ends get a little greenish grey.

I shampoo my graying, blonde frosted hair every 3 days. Should I use this shampoo( Eva Nye Tone It Down) every time I shampoo?

Asked by: ilene sat
Yes you can, but I would also go with a clarifying shampoo 2/3 times a month to help keep your blonde hair from mineral buildup. Purple shampoo is great to help keep the brassiness away, but sometimes they can react with different minerals in your water or chlorine. This is why it’s good to have a clarifying shampoo on hand.

I am recovering from migraines and scalp burning from shimmering lights generic Sally’s brand purple shampoo.  Many reviews for shimmering lights had the same reviews.   With Eva being sulfate and Parabens free has anyone experienced scalp burning?

Asked by: Tami0911
I have been using this shampoo for months now and love it. My hair is healthier looking and not brittle and breaking. I have not experienced any scalp burning. This shampoo is great.

Why is the eva-nyc tone it down blonde shampoo $11.99 in this email & I paid $13.50 yesterday? They also wouldn't let me buy the Hask Biotin Thickening Dry Shampoo for buy 1 get 1 half off. But it is online. Just went back & was told it's online only!

Hi love! Promotions can differ from store to store. We recommend reaching out to the store you purchased the shampoo from as they can better assist you with this inquiry!

Used color oops to prep for new color. Of course my hair is orangish/brassy but I kinda like it. Will this shampoo tone some of that out? Or do I need an actual toner? I’m kinda a color virgin!

Asked by: RaiderMom
Hi Love! The Tone it Down shampoo consists of an ultra-violet formula to neutralize brassy tones. We would not recommend using this shampoo if you want to keep the orange color in your hair vibrant!

Does this take out the reds

Asked by: Margaret73
This product (I also use the conditioner and mousse) helps tone down the brassy tones of your natural hair color. For example, I am a true brunette with bleached hair. My hair wants to go back to it’s natural hair tones so this product, and others like it, tone down those warm tones by depositing a cool purple tone which leaves me with more of a grey/ silver effect. It also helps true blondes and greys achieve the same results. You have to remember it’s not a one time deal. You have to stick with this maintenance as well as work with your hair professionals to achieve the desired results. Good luck!
