ion Color Brilliance Intensive Shine Demi Permanent Creme Hair Color is a state-of-the-art European Ionic Formula that is a luxurious, long-lasting, deposit-only hair color without ammonia. This hair color covers and blends gray hair up to 100% without lifting the hair's natural pigment. The formula will allow same-day color with chemical relaxers and permanent waves.

ion Hair Color’s superior quality, proprietary blends are formulated in Italy by our expert team of chemists to deliver unparalleled results. Our unique system combines the finest quality natural and exotic ingredients with powerful high-tech compounds to achieve exquisite, brilliant color with superior gray coverage. ion Hair Color science relies on the power of micro-pigmentation—our microscopic pigment molecules oxidize slower, allowing them to penetrate deep into the cortex of each hair strand for long-lasting, fade-resistant color.

ion's formulas are PPD-free and enriched with Hyaluronic Acid, Argan Oil, Pequi Oil, and botanicals to nourish and strengthen hair from within. Not to mention, ion Hair Color is gentle on hair, containing up to 38% less ammonia than the leading professional brands on the market. Unlock your hair’s true potential with Ion’s cutting-edge, salon-quality color science and bring home vibrancy like never before.

The Ionic formula provides protection for stronger hair structure. ion Color Brilliance Demi Permanent Creme Hair Color contains botanically derived nourishing ingredients with a refreshing fragrance.

  • Select desired shade. Mix 2 oz. of ion Intensive Shine Demi Hair Color with 4 oz. ion Sensitive Scalp Creme Developer 10 Volume in a non-metallic bowl. Mixing ratio is 1:2 unless otherwise noted. All instructions are based on average texture, normal porosity; Fine hair is much more receptive to hair coloring where coarse hair is not.

Use ion Color Brilliance Pre-Color Treatment to help ensure even color results from scalp to ends. A five-minute cool down is recommended if heat is used prior to rinsing. Standard processing time is 10-40 minutes at room temperature and 10-15 minutes with heat. After processing, rinse hair thoroughly until the water runs clear. Shampoo and style as desired.
  • Demi-permanent hair color is the most versatile kind of haircolor, because it lasts much longer than semi-permanent color (up to six weeks). It is sometimes referred to as deposit-only hair color or non-lift deposit-only color, because it’s formulated to deposit (add), but not to lift (lighten) color. Demi-permanent color is ideal for blending or covering gray (up to 100 percent!) and enhancing, deepening, or changing the tone of your natural color. It also adds intense shine.

Always wear gloves. Using a non-metallic bowl or tint bottle, mix 2 oz. of ion Color Brilliance Intensive Shine Demi Permanent Creme Hair Color with either 2 oz. or 4 oz. ion Sensitive Scalp Creme Developer 10 volume. Apply mixture immediately after mixing to dry hair. Do not store mixture; container may burst.

For natural, non-color-treated hair (virgin application):  Apply  formula to the scalp area.  Immediately work through mid-lengths and ends.

For Retouching:  Apply formula to the scalp (new growth) area.  Process for half the recommended processing time, and then work formula through the mid-lengths and ends.  Finish processing. Because 45-50% of color loss is attributed to shampooing, it is imperative to use hair care products formulated for color-treated hair.

Always read the product packaging and inserts for complete directions, instructions, and warnings, and make sure to perform both the strand test and the patch test before applying your color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Give up the boxed color if that's what you use!!! This Demi has been amazing so far. I have extremely thin fine dark brown hair with some grey starting on top and a little throughout. It was gentle and left my hair soft. I also used the Ion cuticle sealer after.. I recommend this as the final step.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ion Demi Does it again. This demi is great, leaves my hair shiny, soft, and smelling great. I used it this time to correct a red tone problem that was caused by another demi, and I'm just never disappointed in this product's ability to make my hair look great. I mixed 7A with Clear, and the ash got my hair back to where it needs to be. It is a little bit dark, but it is a nice change and will lighten a little as it is washed anyway. Thanks Sally!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Color comes out darker than expected! Product is really great and easy to use. Only reason I would give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it definitely turned out black instead of medium brown so FYI for other customers. I am embracing it until it fades out (since it’s a Demi permanent dye) but for next go around I bought light brown hoping that will turn out as medium/dark brown.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No, I’m not their grandma Once I found this product line, I’ve never looked back. It took time to find my favorite colors but it’s the answer to making sure nobody asks me if I’m the Grandma of my young girls. Once was enough - sad face. If you have to ask, you shouldn’t, right?! With my hair, the Demi does NOT wash out and is less harsh on my hair. I only color my roots or the ends get way too dark. Pick a shade MUCH lighter than you think you need. It only deposits color so it will not lighten your hair. I wasn’t happy until I started using ash blonde shades on my clearly brunette hair. I can afford to touch up my color every 2-3 weeks doing it at home and my hair is healthy and shiny! I’ve been doing this for at least 5 years but probably more like 8 years. My stylist says I shouldn’t change a thing and my hair looks better than any other at home color she’s ever seen. I’m no beauty queen nor am I high maintenance. Once my kids are old enough, the plan is to embrace the gray. Until then, I gotta stay outta jail so I need to avoid the grandma questions for now! Buy it, you will not regret. Use the 10 Developer btw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent coverage, natural look. I’m 67 and have never typed my own hair before - was just avoiding it as long as possible. This has easy I structions, easy to use and the Color was ... just perfect. I started with Med to dark brown hair with my gray more toward the front. I had about 25% gray - in streaks. Used dark warm blond pe - Yes - DARK warm BLONDE. The result is a very natural medium brown with highlights where the gray used to be. And my hair feel good - silky. I highly recommend this if you hate roots because it washes out slower than they tell you. I was told if i washed my hair once a week, the color would last about 6 weeks. As much as I dislike washing my hair, once a week doesn’t cut it for me so it’s bn at least twice weekly. It looks great. Next week, at the 4 week mark, I’ll probably do it again. Excellent product. PS - I use ION brand shampoo, specifically for colored hair and conditioner.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far I think I love it! I used this product for the first time in 7wr with some 00-clear and the matching vol 10 developer 2 weeks ago. As expected, the result was fairly dark for the first two washes, but after that the deeper almost purple tones rinsed out a chocolatey red copper brown color was revealed and im really liking it right now. I was tired of the too red / fake red color I was sporting. So I chose 7wr because I wanted to stay in the red family but not add more red. Im shooting for less wild firetruck and more emma stone :) I definitely recommend cjtting this with 00-clear especially on yojr lengths because they are usually more damaged and will soak up too much color. Im pretty sure had O used straight 7wr my lengths would have looked black. My hair- Ive been a redhead for many many years and used many many dyes, mostly semi and permanent dyes: Wella, pravana, manic panic, satin, feria, natural instincts...(naturally im a dirty blonde with some greys) and my hair grows fast so it is a constant struggle to find the right products and techniques to achieve and maintain a good healthy red shade. I find Im either way too bright red (rocked that look for a long time because I loved the silkiness from manic panic "Electric lava" but im over the way it only grabs my ends not my roots. Eventually my ends get super color saturated and my roots are still a faded dishwater tone. The contrast is not a good look) either that or with a permanent dye after 2 weeks im faded and brassy. And when I finally arrive at a shade I love, I already have roots! A couple more shampoos later and Im back to square one. :/ Lately im stryggling with uneven looking color probably from switching products since I never seems to find "the one". These days my goal is a more 'muted' and natural Auburn/copper/red tone thats not too bright, not too purple, but not orange either. Ion demi really impressed me so far, it was fairly easy to mix and apply, the smell was pleasant and the shine and condition of my hair was great! And 2 weeks later I still have a healthy shine and condition and the color faded fairly evenly. I cant wait to tweak my formulas using Ion demi, my next experiment will be 7wr with a dash or 6rc at my ashy roots and since my lengths are a great level right now Ill uses 00-clear and 6rc with a dash of 7wr. Wish me luck!

Have used med brown ion demi. However my hair is getting too dark. What ca I do to lighten it? I have been told I must bleach my hair and start over. There must be a better way!

Asked by: Jenny451
The great thing about demi is that it is just that a “demi” and not permanent. I think Sally’s sells a product that washes the color out and isn’t a bleach. I would do a search of that on their site or visit a Sally’s store and ask the clerk. I think I have read that adding the 0.0 gloss dilutes the color when coloring in the future. I am not a hairdresser but the bleach process seems a bit extreme. Hope this helps a little...hold off on the bleach until you get more input.

I finally got my hair the silver grey I wanted. Now I'd like to add 6RC in chunks. How do I stop unwanted transfer to the parts to stay silver?

Asked by: chelej0369
I would use foils to do that, it may take a little more time but, I think it's worth a try.

Why does it say "without ammonia" , but further down in the description it says it has 38% less ammonia than other hair color products ?

Asked by: Want2know
Any Hair Color that is a semi/demi or permanent and is mixed with any type of developer/activator has either ammonia or else a comparable chemical substitute. The percentage varies by brand. They are legally allowed to call it 'ammonia free' if it has less than 10%. Most Hair Color has 6-9+%, and pricier professional brands have 2-5%.

How do you know if you should use a neutral or ash color? I am trying to get a base color back from a lot of hightligjting. My color is medium blonde.

Asked by: jackie126
I would use a neutral. Unless your natural color has ash tones the ash may be too flat looking

I'm using this in 3N  to replace the d/c Clairol Radiance Color Gloss. This says to apply to dry hair, process, then shampoo. But with the Clairol, the instructions were to shampoo first, apply, rinse, then condition. Can I apply this that way, too?

Asked by: Lauren41
I have applied it both ways. Different see any real difference. But I’m not a professional.

RE: Demi-permanent CLEAR Do I need to mix w/ anything or do I just put it on as is? I already used 8N,a few weeks ago...

Asked by: Terri659
Gimme perminent clear is usually mixed with a 10 or a 20 so go for a 5 or a 10% volume and you should be fine...... The clear really worked for me well over the years it's seals the cuticle and makes the hair very smooth and the color does last longer good luck and remember it's just hair it'll grow back eventually blessings

How well will the color 7N blend with a darker brown. (That was a color mistake by a stylist) I had been coloring my hair medium reddish brown. Now I've got "hot roots". I just want one natural color before I get red hilights.

Asked by: Mimi2014
I routinely mix 'very light ash blonde' (9NA) with medium ash blonde to get the color I want. It works perfectly. Beware though, that all of the colors(at least all of the blondes that I have tried) are actually quite dark, although with time, they lighten a LITTLE, but stillmuch darker than the color chart would indicate. I do love Ion demi.

Your best bet may be to go to a salon. They have much more experience dealing with corrective color.
