ion Color Brilliance Intensive Shine Demi Permanent Creme Hair Color is a state-of-the-art European Ionic Formula that is a luxurious, long-lasting, deposit-only hair color without ammonia. This hair color covers and blends gray hair up to 100% without lifting the hair's natural pigment. The formula will allow same-day color with chemical relaxers and permanent waves.

ion Hair Color’s superior quality, proprietary blends are formulated in Italy by our expert team of chemists to deliver unparalleled results. Our unique system combines the finest quality natural and exotic ingredients with powerful high-tech compounds to achieve exquisite, brilliant color with superior gray coverage. ion Hair Color science relies on the power of micro-pigmentation—our microscopic pigment molecules oxidize slower, allowing them to penetrate deep into the cortex of each hair strand for long-lasting, fade-resistant color.

ion's formulas are PPD-free and enriched with Hyaluronic Acid, Argan Oil, Pequi Oil, and botanicals to nourish and strengthen hair from within. Not to mention, ion Hair Color is gentle on hair, containing up to 38% less ammonia than the leading professional brands on the market. Unlock your hair’s true potential with Ion’s cutting-edge, salon-quality color science and bring home vibrancy like never before.

The Ionic formula provides protection for stronger hair structure. ion Color Brilliance Demi Permanent Creme Hair Color contains botanically derived nourishing ingredients with a refreshing fragrance.

  • Select desired shade. Mix 2 oz. of ion Intensive Shine Demi Hair Color with 4 oz. ion Sensitive Scalp Creme Developer 10 Volume in a non-metallic bowl. Mixing ratio is 1:2 unless otherwise noted. All instructions are based on average texture, normal porosity; Fine hair is much more receptive to hair coloring where coarse hair is not.

Use ion Color Brilliance Pre-Color Treatment to help ensure even color results from scalp to ends. A five-minute cool down is recommended if heat is used prior to rinsing. Standard processing time is 10-40 minutes at room temperature and 10-15 minutes with heat. After processing, rinse hair thoroughly until the water runs clear. Shampoo and style as desired.
  • Demi-permanent hair color is the most versatile kind of haircolor, because it lasts much longer than semi-permanent color (up to six weeks). It is sometimes referred to as deposit-only hair color or non-lift deposit-only color, because it’s formulated to deposit (add), but not to lift (lighten) color. Demi-permanent color is ideal for blending or covering gray (up to 100 percent!) and enhancing, deepening, or changing the tone of your natural color. It also adds intense shine.

Always wear gloves. Using a non-metallic bowl or tint bottle, mix 2 oz. of ion Color Brilliance Intensive Shine Demi Permanent Creme Hair Color with either 2 oz. or 4 oz. ion Sensitive Scalp Creme Developer 10 volume. Apply mixture immediately after mixing to dry hair. Do not store mixture; container may burst.

For natural, non-color-treated hair (virgin application):  Apply  formula to the scalp area.  Immediately work through mid-lengths and ends.

For Retouching:  Apply formula to the scalp (new growth) area.  Process for half the recommended processing time, and then work formula through the mid-lengths and ends.  Finish processing. Because 45-50% of color loss is attributed to shampooing, it is imperative to use hair care products formulated for color-treated hair.

Always read the product packaging and inserts for complete directions, instructions, and warnings, and make sure to perform both the strand test and the patch test before applying your color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent coverage, natural look. I’m 67 and have never typed my own hair before - was just avoiding it as long as possible. This has easy I structions, easy to use and the Color was ... just perfect. I started with Med to dark brown hair with my gray more toward the front. I had about 25% gray - in streaks. Used dark warm blond pe - Yes - DARK warm BLONDE. The result is a very natural medium brown with highlights where the gray used to be. And my hair feel good - silky. I highly recommend this if you hate roots because it washes out slower than they tell you. I was told if i washed my hair once a week, the color would last about 6 weeks. As much as I dislike washing my hair, once a week doesn’t cut it for me so it’s bn at least twice weekly. It looks great. Next week, at the 4 week mark, I’ll probably do it again. Excellent product. PS - I use ION brand shampoo, specifically for colored hair and conditioner.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far I think I love it! I used this product for the first time in 7wr with some 00-clear and the matching vol 10 developer 2 weeks ago. As expected, the result was fairly dark for the first two washes, but after that the deeper almost purple tones rinsed out a chocolatey red copper brown color was revealed and im really liking it right now. I was tired of the too red / fake red color I was sporting. So I chose 7wr because I wanted to stay in the red family but not add more red. Im shooting for less wild firetruck and more emma stone :) I definitely recommend cjtting this with 00-clear especially on yojr lengths because they are usually more damaged and will soak up too much color. Im pretty sure had O used straight 7wr my lengths would have looked black. My hair- Ive been a redhead for many many years and used many many dyes, mostly semi and permanent dyes: Wella, pravana, manic panic, satin, feria, natural instincts...(naturally im a dirty blonde with some greys) and my hair grows fast so it is a constant struggle to find the right products and techniques to achieve and maintain a good healthy red shade. I find Im either way too bright red (rocked that look for a long time because I loved the silkiness from manic panic "Electric lava" but im over the way it only grabs my ends not my roots. Eventually my ends get super color saturated and my roots are still a faded dishwater tone. The contrast is not a good look) either that or with a permanent dye after 2 weeks im faded and brassy. And when I finally arrive at a shade I love, I already have roots! A couple more shampoos later and Im back to square one. :/ Lately im stryggling with uneven looking color probably from switching products since I never seems to find "the one". These days my goal is a more 'muted' and natural Auburn/copper/red tone thats not too bright, not too purple, but not orange either. Ion demi really impressed me so far, it was fairly easy to mix and apply, the smell was pleasant and the shine and condition of my hair was great! And 2 weeks later I still have a healthy shine and condition and the color faded fairly evenly. I cant wait to tweak my formulas using Ion demi, my next experiment will be 7wr with a dash or 6rc at my ashy roots and since my lengths are a great level right now Ill uses 00-clear and 6rc with a dash of 7wr. Wish me luck!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from NOT DAMAGING TO HAIR I have been using this for a while after the Clairol Radiance was discontinued. I did not want to use a hair color with ammonia and this one leaves my hair natural feeling and not damaging to my hair. It is not, however, long lasting but, most importantly, it does not damage my hair.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Color Perfection! Please don’t change this product! It is a bit darker than the color states on the box. But, once you’ve pinpointed the correct personal color choice, it’s a long lasting rich color. My hair always feels healthy too!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nurturing Demi Permanent I really like this product. I had been dying my hair with permanent hair color for decades. It was recommended to me to try a demi permanent hair color and I chose this one. I love how it nurtures my hair better than permanent dyes. I also like the shine I get from it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Perfect for what I need. Covers grey at my temples. Gradual fading with each wash. No growing out lines. Not damaging to hair.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very good, but not excellent I love the smell and the feel of my hair after coloring. The color is excellent overall! It does not do a good enough job on the gray, as it promises!

I bought 7N and the directions called for 10 developer which is what I thought but the sales clerk told me to use 20 developer will this be ok?

Asked by: gracie23
The 20 developer will open up the hair follicles and make it more a permanent color. May also be a bit darker than expected also.

I would like to use multiple colors. Think it's possible if I could & time properly?

Asked by: chelej40
If you mean like mixing a 5g and a 5N then yes - I mix a 1/4 of one and 3/4 of another, etc., BUT only once you know what a "5N" will do on your hair.  Say you want a little gold, then add a little 5G and take away a little 5N.   If you mean a color like "pink" and another "color" then I have no idea.  I would be hesitate on mixing actually "crayon" "colors".

I’m a novice. The number seems to indicate color.  What do the letters mean?  What’s the difference between warm, golden, natural and ash?  Eg.7N medium  blonde; 7W  medium warm blonde;  7NB medium neutral blonde, 7NA medium ash blonde, 7 WR med.warm red

Asked by: Kathi Fry
W=warm G=golden R=red N=neutral (between ash and golden) A=ash

What is the difference between Demi- permanent and permanent? Will the Demi- eventually was out?

Asked by: CMatty62
Demi-permanent color lasted on my hair for many months, it lightened again after being out in the sun all summer. But there was no grow-out line or fade like I've had with permanent hair color. (Semi-permanent is the one that only lasts about 24 washes but that's something different). Demi color works great at covering grays, and it's not as harsh on my scalp. If you're not sure, try it. You can always cover with permanent if you'd rather.
