  • Complete kit- includes everything you need for color correction Perfect for all hair types- leaves hair in ideal condition to re-color Easily removes any level of hair color Helps to reduce breakage Easy to mix and apply

"Ion™ Color Brilliance™ Color Corrector removes the permanent hair color, establishing a base to recolor. It will not restore the hair to its original, natural hair color. Removes dark tint, unwanted dark spots, and color build up. Helps to remove muddy and drab looking color, which can be the result of too many previous color changes."

  • DIRECTIONS/ MIXING: Remove cap on Processing Lotion bottle (part 1). Add Color Remover packet (part 2) and Absolute Perfection vial. Apply applicator cap to Processing Lotion bottle and close tightly. Vigorously shake until product is thoroughly mixed (45 seconds). Using scissors immediately cut off plastic tip on applicator cap. APPLICATION AND DEVELOPMENT TIME: Wearing gloves, apply mixture quickly and evenly to dry hair, starting at the darkest area. Avoid application on uncolored new growth or on hair that has not been previously colored. For darker shades (level 1 black- level 3 dark brown) or intense color build up, process 50 minutes to 1 hour. For medium shades, (level 4 medium brown – level 6 dark blonde) process 20-30 minutes. For lighter shades, (level 7 medium blonde – level 9 very light blonde) process 10-20 minutes. Processing time varies depending on the amount of color absorbed from previous color applications. Black or darker shades may require more than 1 application. If the color removal was uneven, a second application may be necessary only on the darker areas. Processing times noted above are approximate. Strand test to ensure successful results. After processing, rinse thoroughly and lightly shampoo. Dry hair prior to recoloring.
  • Please see instructions for additional directions and tips. Always perform a strand test and patch test prior to applying all over.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worked very well Took my black hair back to a light reddish brown. Have thin hair to my butt. Used 2 kits, start at bottom working upwards. Left for 45 minutes. My hair is a little dry but not too bad. I would recommend it to anyone. Use high quality conditioner afterwards.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Might as well have bleached I was trying to take purple out of my hair, and figured I'd try this. It worked, mostly, but I think my hair would have done better if I had just bleached it. It's very patchy which I'm willing to take some credit for, but I put all the extra in my hair trying to avoid just that. Bottom line: could have bleached and done better since I know how my hair reacts.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from OMG So I was looking to get something to take old box color out of my hair (I use Madison Rees hair color), and I decided I would use the Ion Color remover packets. When I went into the store, I saw this color corrector, and figured why not? And purchased it with some color remover packets. This worked so much better than the color remover! It actually removed all the buildup color that was in my hair, and then some. It removed everything up to my natural highlights (which are red). I couldn't have been happier. Im only giving 4 stars though because there is so little product. There was only enough to do half my head. I ended up needing 4 boxes in total (which equates to 2 full head applications) to lift the color and not look horribly uneven.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from TERRIBLE! DO NOT purchase this! I repeat, DO NOT purchase!! I box dyed my hair a chocolate brown for it to come out black. I was recommended this product to lighten the black to a dark/medium brown. First off, I have hair a bit past my shoulders and one box wasn't enough. Second, it was splotchy and made my roots an ugly copper color and didn't match the rest of my hair at all. I wish I had pictures because it was TERRIBLE! My hair was so bad, I had to pull it back and wear a hat, things I never do!! I didn't want to be a red head! Bad enough the people recommended it at Sally's but didn't tell me to get two boxes!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great Worked great to remove permanent colors. I'd suggest buying a deep moisture treatment for afterwards, your hair will be a little coarse but worth it if you're trying to fix a color mistake.

I am naturally a dark blonde and have really hard water that turns it orange. Purple shampoo works good when used daily. In dec. Decided to go med brown to stop using purple. It went orange again. Would this help to use before going to light ash blonde?

Asked by: Anonymous
Yes it will. It helps to remove the orange/red tones that are in the brown dye. It won't remove it all but it helps a lot. Another thing to try is equal parts clear dish washing liquid soap, baking soda, purple shampoo, and the lowest volume developer that you have on hand. Don't use anything above 20. Mix all this together, apply to dry hair, saturate well, leave on for 20-30 minutes then rinse and condition well. Helps remove color also with out too much damage to your hair.

The color remover would not take out all of the orange, it would just remove the remaining brunette color. Purple shampoo is great for toning brassiness and yellow, but does not tone orange-Blue cancels out orange. In order to get an ash blonde, I'd suggest using blue shampoo or toner to correct the orange so you don't strip your hair/risk ruining the integrity of your hair.

Yes! I used this with good results. I also use a toner with a 10 volume developer after coloring to keep yellows and orange away. Follow the directions and you will be pleased.

How well would this work removing black. Box dye?

Asked by: Gracie20
It wouldn’t remove it entirely but it’s does an amazing job with removing in general. It’s my go-to for removing difficulties dyes. Maybe if you did more than one application it would work nicely. Also remember to get more than one box, as it comes with so little.

Lately it’s been impossible for me to get the same color all over, I always dye my hair blonde, because of stubborn gray all around my face!!! It’s driving me crazy! Anyone have any suggestions??

Asked by: Bpaez2275
I have every color in my hair but the ion color correction took it to the lightest color my hair as ever been and I have had grey hair for over 30 years (hence I have been dyeing it for 30 years). This product will bring it all one color and then you can start from scratch again....ion products are the best in my opinion....happy coloring!!!!

Do you have to shampoo first?

Asked by: love4sky
I did not. It also worked really good for me. Didn’t damage my hair at all and removed all the purple/pink color out of my blonde hair.

Is this a sulfur-based oxidative color remover such as color fix or color oops, or a bleach-like color stripper, or something else entirely? I read the ingredients and couldn’t figure it out thanks!

One of the best resources when coloring using ION products is to call their hot line. I usually get someone right away. The customer service woman is very knowledgeable and she helps me make the right decision and avoid mistakes. ION is the only color I would use. I use the 7rc, Medium Copper Blond. The color holds, which reds often don't hold well, even professional hair dyeing jobs. However, when your dyeing at home and people keep coming to the door and it interfers with your process then it becomes necessary. to remove the color, the corrector works very well so that you can work to re-color without interruptions. BTW, I have fine, long, thick, curly hair, which is chanllenging. Without ION's customer service rep helped with the right product. I get a lot of complements on my hair. Kentucky Woman
