  • 1:1 mixing ratio. Two ounces of color to two ounces of 10, 20, 30 or 40 Volume ion Sensitive Scalp Creme Developer. High Lift Blonde series is mixed 1:2 ratio: Two ounces of color to 4 ounces of 30 or 40 Volume Ion Sensitive Scalp Developer. Bowl and brush application is recommended. Always read the product packaging and inserts for complete directions, instructions, and warnings, and make sure to perform both the strand test and the patch test before applying your color.

If have never colored your hair and you want to change your current hair color or you have not colored in 3 months or longer follow these steps: Apply hair color mixture to dry, unwashed hair

    • Work gently through hair as you would a shampoo. Loosely pile hair on top of head

    • Process according to manufacturer’s directions. When processing time is complete, add a small amount of warm water to hair and work into lather

    • Rinse until the water runs clear.

If you color your hair every 4-6 weeks with a shade of similar tone and level follow these steps: Make 1/4” partings throughout dry, unwashed hair

    • Apply mixture onto new growth area only, working from the front to the back of your head. Leave color on new growth area for 25 minutes. When processing time is complete, add a small amount of warm water to hair and work into lather

    • Rinse until the water runs clear.

  • • Always perform a strand and patch test

    • It is often not necessary to refresh the ends of the hair on every permanent hair color touch-up application

    • For resistant gray, use 20 Volume ion Sensitive Scalp® Creme Developer and apply to gray area first

    • Apply a stain barrier cream around the hairline prior to application when using dark shades

    • Choose a lighter shade than desired if you are unsure of which shade to use or if you have very few gray hairs

    • Use an old towel to protect your clothing

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Would Not Recommend I bought this to color some hair jet black. It only colored the ends het black and left the midshaft of the hair red/brown and i thought 3 boxes of this color. A complete waste of money

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Perfect color This color is great for dying my roots a darker blonde then adding a blonde hair lightener for texture.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Satisfied This dye really covers my grays well and hasn’t dried out my hair. I do wish it left it shiner but I guess I’ll settle for at least not having overt damage lol. Worth the cost!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Aweful color My hair was medium brown with a redish tint and I was attempting to go to a light brown-dark blonde for spring/summer. I got dark intense blonde fully anticipating it would lighten my hair and it turned it almost black/purple. I now get to attempt to get my hair brown again. Worst color I've ever used from Sally's.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't change a thing! Been coloring & cutting my hair for decades, so I tried 5NN for lowlights and root smudges. To heck with the highlights, I love this shade so much, I went all light brown. It's excellent.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Its okay I bought this yesterday. I suggest like others to go a shade lighter than what you want. I was a dark dark brown and bleached my hair than dyed it light brown im more of a medium brown now so im a wee bit disappointed about the outcome. Also the smell of the dye is not pleasant to me smelled like a wet dog bleh.

what is difference between NN and N? I need light brown 5 and not sure if I want N or NN. Also what is difference between ion Permanent and Ion Brilliant 12 permanent? Please advise!

Asked by: Lisa24jan
Good question . N = natural . The NN  is used for clients with more than 50 % gray hair .  ( ppl with skunk line at their part ) NN have more colour deposits for the gray hair .  If you are in a pinch & only have NN for a young ,no gray client add 1/4 of a shade lighter . Both N & NN WORK on aged hair of gray hence , NN  works better . Good luck .

Hair was faded medium brown w/ gray roots. Used Brilliant 12 Intense 3NN (Dark Intense Brown) w/20 dev. Applied 2 roots 15 min & combed through ends, left on another 15 (total 30 min). Gray is gone, but now almost black. What can i use 2 lighten color?

Asked by: BlueCamaro
Honestly, try Color Oops. I have used it repeatedly in the past and as long as I follow the instructions to the letter, I have never had a problem. I am going to go buy some tomorrow, as I tried the intense medium blond (7NN) and got brown instead. This is the worst hair color I've ever used and I do not recommend it to anyone.
