  • Mix Ratio: 1 part haircolor, 2 parts developer. Lighter than natural shade, first time application: Develop for 15 minutes, check, then process up to an additional 15 minutes or until color is even. Darker than natural shade, first time application: Develop for 30 minutes, check, then process up to an additional 15 minutes if additional coverage is needed.

Tips for achieving optimum coverage on gray hair:

    1. Select a shade level 8 or darker for best coverage; Lighter shades will create a translucent effect.

    2. Shades from Natural or Gold Family will produce a more natural result with optimum coverage.

    3. Mix with 20 Volume Well Color Charm Developer

    4. Apply generously starting at the area with highest percentage of gray or most resistant.

    5. Process for 30 minute, extend to 45 minutes if needed.

    6. For better coverage on hair that is more than 50% gray, use a fashion shade from the Red Family and mix with equal parts of Wella Color Charm Natural or Gold shade at the same level.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favorite color! Wella color is my favorite brand. The frost ash covers gray, but I do add a red/gold corrector as my hair tends to go red otherwise.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect hair color I've been using Wella for as long as I can remember and to this day I'm still getting compliments on my hair color. Just the other day two young girls at my eye doctors reception desk said people would pay a lot of money to get my hair color. Probably about once a week someone comments on the color. My hair comes to the middle of my back after all these years the many blonde colors mix together look very natural. I only color the roots and comb it through shortly before I wash it. Thanks Wella

my natural is auburn. Been dying black/blue for at least 10 years. I want to go lighter, closer to original. I've decided to bypass bleach and stripping. I'll just do my roots. What shades, brands would be best? I'm 65 and have long hair.

Asked by: carolbinda
Unfortunately if you've been using that shade for that long you're going to have a lot of deposit. No matter what color you use on your roots it will never lighten the black. In addition whatever new color you use , if it overlaps onto colored hair , it's still gonna make it darker. I would suggest having it professionally done at least to get a new shade started and then maybe consider touching it up yourself.

I would love to know what color will my hair turn out to be

Asked by: Verniceh
I've used Light medium blonde with a small portion of light brown as the base with highlights of carmel, it has served me well as I age it softens the grey coming. Great accents together

Is this a red or a blue base because I used a bleaching kit and then wella t18 to tone

Asked by: Desarayyyy
Well that doesn’t really help me out any with knowing which base color it is ... I didn’t ask anyone what the product did for their hair ... I just wanted to know what the base color was in this product and it is bleach and toner wella t18 so it’s cool and not warm so I’m guessing blue base to offset red or orange or yellow after bleaching. WOW WHADDYA KNOW I just answered my own question!!! THANK YOU AND GLAD IT HELPED YOUR HAIR TOO!!!!

Does this come with everything? Do I have to buy the peroxide seperate

Asked by: jlc08180
No the peroxide / developer isn't sold with the dye. You have to buy it separately. It's cheaper then buying box dye from the pharmacy. If you don't want to lift your hair color then all you need is 20 volume developer. Mix the developer with the dye according to directions and apply it.
