Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightest Blonde surprisingly EXCEEDED expectations I had to write this review for all those who were just as hesitant as I was in trying out this product. I'm usually a Wella kinda gal for my fave 12NG shade was discontinued, and thought I'd try Clairol's 10GN/12G2 "Lightest Gold Neutral Blonde" as a replacement. . I just got my hair done a couple weeks ago to a beautiful level 8/9 gold neutral blonde shade, with bits of super warm pieces. I wanted to rid of the orangey, warm pieces and overall, go a shade or two blonder/lighter. I was very close to returning this after reading horrible stories over the misleading hair colors. But I did a strand test. Went well. I first foiled the orangey pieces with 20 developer, processed for 20 minutes, then did the rest of my hair and let it process for another 10-15 minutes. The color was PHENOMENAL. I got the exact results I wanted. My blonde was a couple of shades lighter, no more unwanted warmth, a nice beige/gold tone (no need to use toner), and super even. This was a great way to lift my hair color gently. Now I'm a level 10 blonde!! I can only speak for the 10GN and suggest doing a strand test if you're also hesitant, but this will be my go to color.

I have been using 3nn and 4nn.  What can I do to tone for the red in my hair

Asked by: JoLene2929
I'm not sure what you're asking. Do you want more red IN your hair or out? if you want more in.....after the 3 and 4nn process mix some Volume 10 and 4RN and put it just where you want the red highlight.

If I put this on my brown roots will it turn blonde ? That's what I want

Asked by: HarleyRose
If you use a 20v or more developer, you may get orange roots. Color doesn't lift color. You need bleach for that.

I am looking at the Clairol Grey busters Blondest Beige 10N 12B1. What does the 10N and 12B1 represent? This is my first time coloringmy hair myself. Also which level of Developer would you recommend? Thanks

Asked by: ajacks603
10N is a Level 10 Hair color with a neutral color base. 12B1 is a Level 12 hair color with a beige color base. The level of hair color relates to the lightness or darkness of your hair color, 1 being black and 12 being an almost platinum blonde. The Letters designate the base of the hair color, R for Red, N for neutral or natural, G for gold etc. Typically with permanent hair color it is recommended to use 20 Volume developer so long as the desired hair color is within 2 shade levels of your current hair color (including your roots). how often can I touch up roots only?

Asked by: jojo11908
Hi. I touch up my roots every 2-3 weeks to cover the gray. I suppose it would depend on how fast your hair grows.
