Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better to remove off of skin This was the first hairdye I've tried when I started doing it myself. I've tried others and they weren't easy to remove off the skin like this one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sully I have been using the same dye for 50 years. It is my opinion that Clairol dye from years ago was better. However, I use it because I do not wish to make any changes that would change my color of my hair. also, I find it very expensive since I mix it with #33 and it oxidizes in a short time and I have to recolor.

I use 6NN and 5NN and would like to go lighter. Would 9NN accomplish this?

Asked by: mgindi0820
I always start by using Opps color remover to remove the color. If you have previously lightened your hair it will leave you with a starting point of that level or almost that level. If not, you can bleach your hair from here to your desired shade and tone. Don't get ammonia free bleach because it doesn't lift well. If your hair is dark use a 30 developer with the bleach and keep an eye on your hair leaving it no longer than a max of 45 minutes. It shouldn't take that long though unless you have extremely stubborn hair. Once you rinse use a wella toner or dye. I always follow with a 2 step protien treatment by Aphgee. I use it once a month. If you haven't bleached your hair before it'll be totally fine. Itll feel dry for a bit because it takes a few washes to actually get all the bleach out. My advice is to invest in some great haircare. Best wishes! PS. Dye is a tint. You cannot lift with dye. You can lift with bleach to the same level then dye(tint) to the shade you want.

i have dark brown hair currently and am wanting to go back to my natural blond. what is the best way to do so.

Asked by: niki08032019
Use Color Oops extra strength to remove the current color, followed by Apogee 2 step protien treatment to give it some strength and fill in the hair shaft, then dye it the blonde color of your choice with 20 developer. Color oops will not damage your hair, it stinks though. Best wishes!

I want a light blonde color with no gold. I have 50% gray .  Would the 9N or the 9NA be best?  Also do I need to remove my current light brassy color first?

Asked by: Jada1226
A 9N has a neutral base while a 9NA has a neutral and Ash base, neither have a gold base. As it is permanent hair color it will most likely cover all of your grays when used with a 20 Volume Developer. For the longest time I have used L'oreal Beige blonde......they now no longer make it.....wondering if this color is similar in tone?

Asked by: Blondie103
I don’t know if it is the same but I know I got excellent answers when I sent a message directly to Clairol to ask about the correct mixture for the color I wanted. I’ve been using this brand a long time and I’ve always had excellent results!

I am currently using L’Oréal 7NN and 8GN - 50/50 to cover my gray, which ultimately is giving me highlights. I would like to begin transitioning my color and I need help.

Asked by: Anonymous
Try a couple shades darker than you actually want. In my experience when youre covering a lighter color you can't choose the color you actually want you have to go a few shades darker to achieve the desired color. Start with 2 shades darker.
