  • 1:1 mixing ratio. Two ounces of color to two ounces of 10, 20, 30 or 40 Volume ion Sensitive Scalp Creme Developer. High Lift Blonde series is mixed 1:2 ratio: Two ounces of color to 4 ounces of 30 or 40 Volume Ion Sensitive Scalp Developer. Bowl and brush application is recommended. Always read the product packaging and inserts for complete directions, instructions, and warnings, and make sure to perform both the strand test and the patch test before applying your color.

If have never colored your hair and you want to change your current hair color or you have not colored in 3 months or longer follow these steps: Apply hair color mixture to dry, unwashed hair • Work gently through hair as you would a shampoo. Loosely pile hair on top of head • Process according to manufacturer’s directions. When processing time is complete, add a small amount of warm water to hair and work into lather • Rinse until the water runs clear.

If you color your hair every 4-6 weeks with a shade of similar tone and level follow these steps: Make 1/4” partings throughout dry, unwashed hair • Apply mixture onto new growth area only, working from the front to the back of your head. Leave color on new growth area for 25 minutes. When processing time is complete, add a small amount of warm water to hair and work into lather • Rinse until the water runs clear.

Other tips: Always perform a strand and patch test • It is often not necessary to refresh the ends of the hair on every permanent hair color touch-up application • For resistant gray, use 20 Volume ion Sensitive Scalp® Creme Developer and apply to gray area first • Apply a stain barrier cream around the hairline prior to application when using dark shades • Choose a lighter shade than desired if you are unsure of which shade to use or if you have very few gray hairs • Use an old towel to protect your clothing
Rated 4 out of 5 by from A1 Penetrated hair nicely and got good results! Very happy with the outcome. Although cream didn’t seem to go as far as liquid does, maybe rescaling the cream ratio/package would benefit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Inspired by Nature - Mushroom Blonde I’m not typically one to write reviews but felt compelled after using the new Ion “Inspired by Nature” line. I’ve been DIY dyeing my hair forever and have almost always used Ion products. The product has always been consistent but I’m blown away by the IBN quality! It smelled great, went on great, and left my hair feeling super healthy. I was excited to try the new mushroom blonde color since it’s pretty close to my natural color and I need a break from dyeing. I chose the “medium” with 20 dev hoping it would cover up some brass tones and meld better with my grown out highlights and it did just that! I’m very happy with the product and highly recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent for a rich, deep copper red. This is a very "loud" copper red, but I pair it with 9RC Ageless brand to get the perfect color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Gray Coverage!! This worked great on my mom's gray hair, the burgundy color gave her a deep red color that she absolutely loves. Left her hair shiny and looking healthy, compared to box dye we've used in the past. Wasn't difficult to mix this with the developer and put it on her hair, would definitely buy again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from No toner. Just color. Didn’t read details. I bought wrong item. The color was perfectly fine but I did not read the details and I thought I can get the whole package with toner and everything else like you do with most packages and it was just the color bottle. I thought I was getting a good deal for four dollars but I didn’t see that it was just the color oh well...

This may be a dumb question but I've never bleached my hair. Is bleach included?

Asked by: Akaaaashii
Bleach is not included with permanent color. Must be purchased separately.

I want the jet black. I have really long (about 22-24inches) thick medium dark brown hair. How many do you think I will need for complete coverage?

Asked by: jsala1999
Four boxes. I used the blue-black recently and purchased four boxes for my waist length hair to bring to my hairdresser. She used them all.

For the color I got it states there's a 1:1 ratio. So the bottle of developer is 8oz and the color is 2oz. So I need 4 tubes of color to put into 1 bottle of developer? That seems like an aweful lot

Asked by: Imstillbigred
This is what i do: I measure 2 oz of developer (I weigh mine) then I add my 2 oz tube  of colo, then mix thoroughly. I have a lot of hair and this amount works perfectly. If you use less, pour 1oz developer and add 1 oz color.  Basically, it means same amount of developer mixed with same amount of color. I use permanent hair color.

Hi I have naturally black hair and I want to permanently dye it light brown. Would I have to bleach my hair first and then apply the color or would I be able to just apply the color on my black hair? Thank you

Asked by: siddhi16
I definitely would think you would have to lighten your hair to get an accurate color

Can you get twi uses from one tube

Asked by: Patty 92
It also depends on the color. H/L blondes mix 2:1, so its a little thinner and spreads further. a 1:1 mix(anything thats not high lift) will not go as far.

I have a 30 developer left over from a previous hair experiment my kid did.  If I do a 1:1 with that and this color will it fry her hair? She has some parts that are previously lightened with a grocery store box dye but they aren’t lightened much.

Asked by: KellyKell
Volume 30 developer will open the cuticle even more to recieve color and further damage it. It essentially provides more lift that a 10 or 20 volume. I don't reccomend using it especially after using box dye (which is known to be extra rough on hair). Instead go for a 10 vol if using darker color or 20 for lighter. 20 is your gold standard and works for most hair types.

What is the dofference between medium brown, and medium intense brown? What does the intense mean? Darker? Or what?

Asked by: Esseyejj
The medium intense brown has more pigments. I have not seen a lot of difference in the brown colors because they all deposit and make your hair dark. I find the browns make my hair black. I have started using dark blond to get a dark brown.
