The line professional stylists have trusted for years. ion Color Brilliance Permanent Hair Color makes it easy to get extraordinary, long-lasting, salon quality results at home even better. The luxurious Italian formulas are made to be especially gentle and protect against damage. The Color Brilliance Permanent Liquid Hair Color pallet consists of luxurious shades with advanced ionic technology that utilizes pure ionic micro pigments for deeper, more intense color deposit. Ionic wheat germ protein, nourishing botanical extracts, and low ammonia help ion Color Brilliance penetrates the cuticle layer of the hair and lodges in the cortex, ensuring 100% flawless gray coverage.

Superior quality and proprietary blends are formulated in Italy by ion's expert team of chemists to deliver unparalleled results. The unique system combines the finest quality natural and exotic ingredients with powerful high-tech compounds to achieve exquisite, brilliant color with superior gray coverage. ion Hair Color science relies on the power of micro-pigmentation—ion's microscopic pigment molecules oxidize slower, allowing them to penetrate deep into the cortex of each hair strand for long-lasting, fade-resistant color.

These formulas are PPD-free and enriched with Hyaluronic Acid, Argan Oil, Pequi Oil, and botanicals to nourish and strengthen hair from within. Not to mention, ion Hair Color is gentle on hair, containing up to 38% less ammonia than the leading professional brands on the market. Unlock your hair’s true potential with Ion’s cutting-edge, salon-quality color science and bring home vibrance like never before.
  • Permanent hair color chemically alters the natural pigment of the hair—permanently—by lifting (lightening) the natural pigment in your hair and depositing the permanent hair color you selected in its place. Using permanent formulas means your color will remain until your hair grows out (aka your “roots” start showing), you cut it off, or you remove it with a hair color remover.

1:1 mixing ratio. Two ounces of color to two ounces of 10, 20, 30 or 40 Volume ion Sensitive Scalp Creme Developer. High Lift Blonde series is mixed 1:2 ratio: Two ounces of color to 4 ounces of 30 or 40 Volume ion Sensitive Scalp Developer. Bowl and brush application is recommended. Always read the product packaging and inserts for complete directions, instructions, and warnings, and make sure to perform both the strand test and the patch test before applying your color.

If have never colored your hair and you want to change your current hair color or you have not colored in 3 months or longer follow these steps: Apply hair color mixture to dry, unwashed hair • Work gently through hair as you would a shampoo. Loosely pile hair on top of head • Process according to manufacturer’s directions. When processing time is complete, add a small amount of warm water to hair and work into lather • Rinse until the water runs clear.

If you color your hair every 4-6 weeks with a shade of similar tone and level follow these steps: Make 1/4” partings throughout dry, unwashed hair • Apply mixture onto new growth area only, working from the front to the back of your head. Leave color on new growth area for 25 minutes. When processing time is complete, add a small amount of warm water to hair and work into lather • Rinse until the water runs clear.

Other tips: Always perform a strand and patch test • It is often not necessary to refresh the ends of the hair on every permanent hair color touch-up application • For resistant gray, use 20 Volume ion Sensitive Scalp® Creme Developer and apply to gray area first • Apply a stain barrier cream around the hairline prior to application when using dark shades • Choose a lighter shade than desired if you are unsure of which shade to use or if you have very few gray hairs • Use an old towel to protect your clothing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dark blonde turned my hair dark brown/red I have never had this happen to my hair before with at home colors. I asked a associate at our local Sally's what color she recommended for my medium blonde with 50% grey to go a color or 2 darker. This is what she recommended, the dark blonde 6N. I also added a packet of their product to prevent bronze. I am a awful very dark brown with high red tones. I need to strip it and not very happy

It looked blue when I put it in my hair like had a dark Navy hue to it so I was kinda nervous but it came out as the color described. Will definitely be buying this color again. Definitely recommend aswell!!! This doesn't include gloves so make sure to get those too!

what would I use instead of 5RC as they are out of it  I like light auburn and my hair is brown and a lot of grey

Asked by: Kritcher77
You could use half 4RC and half 7RC but without seeing your hair I’m not sure how the grey would respond.

Jb3055 I bought ion permanent color brilliance.  What developer do I need with this? And can I mix two different but close colors together?  Thanks

Asked by: Jb3055en
Developer depends on how many shades of lightness you're trying to get through. For example. I have dark blonde roots and to go to red I use 10-20 developers. If you are going to red from brown you might need a stronger developer. Just bear that in mind About mixing colors. I do. I mix the liquids BEFORE I add developer. I use a mix of coppers and reds, but it still will be 1 solid color. Hope this helps!

Can it be used to do highlights

Asked by: Jo jo2985
Yes, I use foil and a brush. I’ve done both highlights and low lights. I’m not a professional and I only do my own hair. It’s a lot of work to do your own highlights and needs a good mirror but the product itself is just regular hair dye.

Is an ash blonde a good color to cover grey

Asked by: Shirley B
Our permanent hair colors offer excellent grey coverage. If your grey hair is particularly resilient to hair color you may want to try a Shade with an N or Neutral base.

can I mix 7RC and 7RR together ?

Asked by: Jennifer32
Yes!  I mix Ion Liquid Golden Blonde, Med. Golden Blonde, Lt. Copper, Med. Copper Blonde, & Dk. Reddish Blonde.   I have a recipe...2,3,4 teaspoons of each shade.  I use 20 volume developer...1:1 ratio.   I mix a total of 15 teaspoons (2.5oz.) to 5 Tbls. (2.5 oz.) of Ion Sensitive Scalp Developer.   I tweak my recipe for the seasons.  Go a little darker in summer since I am in the sun more & a little lighter in winter. I only apply to my roots (1/4”parts) but you can’t help getting the color on at least 2” of your hair.  I leave the color on my roots for 45 minutes (covers gray better) then apply the rest of the hair color through my hair & leave on only 5 minutes....sometimes I don’t run the color through my ends to get a more highlighted look (ends are usually lighter & dryer).   Your hair stylists, in a salon, mix & match hair coloring all the time.  If the particular shade I use of hair color is out-of-stock at Sally’s, I substitute a different brand.   After coloring my hair over 50 years, I realize hair coloring, expensive or cheap, are all made to lighten or darken your hair.  With a box color, you are experiencing only 1 shade....I like to fine tune my color.  Takes a little experimenting but worth it in the long run ... $$$$ St

What is the lighter color between Ion liquid 5G and 5N? Thank you.

Asked by: Jim Jank
There is really no lighter one from the other. The difference is that 5G Meaning G for gold tones and depending on your base might give you a reddish cast to it. Yet 5N Meaning N for neutral if you tend to get a reddish tone to your hair and prefer not to have it then use 5 N as it would cool down the shade and give you a more natural looking brown without the reddish cast. I hope this helps.

what permanent hair color will give me good coverage for my grey to be a medium blonde? i am touching up my roots after the covid hiatus.

Asked by: texasabby
If you want maximum grey coverage you will want to try a hair color that is Level 8 or darker. Shades that have NN, N, or G base will provide better grey coverage. The level number and base color letter will be noted in the hair color name.
