  • ion Color Brilliance Brights can be applied two different ways.

    1. For the most vibrant result apply to pre-lightened hair. Pre-lighten with ion Color Brilliance Ammonia Free Powder Lightener (not included) to the desired level of lift. It is important to note that the degree of lift achieved with pre-lightening will directly affect the vibrancy and intensity of the final result. Underlying exposed contributing pigment must be taken into consideration. If the hair is orange or a dark yellow this will contribute to the final color.

To achieve a boldly intense brights color, pre-lighten to the level indicated in the table below for each specific color. After pre-lightening, shampoo with ion Color Defense Shampoo. Dry the hair. Apply chosen brights shade directly on dry hair and process for 20 to 40 minutes depending on the level of color intensity desired. Strand test every 5-10 minutes. Heat is not necessary for processing if the hair has been pre-lightened. After processing, thoroughly rinse and apply ion® Color Brilliance After Color Treatment to close the cuticle and lock the color deep inside the hair.

    2. Color shine overlays on natural or color treated hair. Apply brights directly onto natural or color treated dry hair and process for 20 to 40 minutes. For more intense vibrant results, cover the hair with a processing cap and process with heat. Strand test every 5-10 minutes. After processing is completed, thoroughly rinse and apply ion Color Brilliance After Color Treatment to close the cuticle and lock color deep inside the hair.

  • ion Color Brilliance Semi-Permanent Neon Brights are non-oxidative dyes that can be extremely long lasting and may become permanent. Apply to dry, pre-lighten hair.

Should removal be necessary from hair, it is important to know that lightener may not completely remove Neon Brights from hair. ion Color Corrector is not recommended for removal of Neon Brights. It is designed for permanent and semi-permanent color removal.

Always read the product packaging and inserts for complete directions, instructions, and warnings, and make sure to perform both the strand test and the patch test before applying your color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it I have long hair so keep in mind this product is hard to spread for its tickness. I bought 4 of them, (rose), i mixed them with a little bit of a 20 vol. Dev. Which made it easier to spread throughout my whole hair. You can mix it with a little bit of conditioner as well if you dont want to lift the color up. I love how it makes my hair feel but also the color ! I love semi permanent since i'm someone that constantly loves trying new different colors meaning that it will fade away, but eaiser for you to make a new change if you want another different color .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful color! I have used the semi permanent colors in Rose, Flamingo, and Rose Quartz and I love them all! If you use a sulfate free shampoo and only wash hair 1-2 times a week like I do the color can last up to 5-6 weeks, the price is great too! I highly recommend these products!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from PLEASE ignore the bad reviews... Seriously... these dyes are insanely good. It's disturbing how many bad reviews there are, but these bad reviews are very obviously a result of improper pre-color preparation and improper after color care. FYI nothing works well if you don't know what you're doing with it. The number one problem is women won't stop using shampoo on their already dried out, damaged & freshly dyed hair. Stop destroying your hair and stripping your color with shampoos. On top of that a lot of styling products will strip color as well. No, it's not going to stick well nor last long in your natural hair... Come on, ladies. I have used almost every single color in the Ion Brights line more than once over the years. The colors are always incredibly bright and pigmented and last FOREVER. I used to be all about Arctic Fox, and I still love them, but this Ion stuff is superior when it comes to lasting strength and amount of pigment. I just changed from an Ion Brights Cyan to Azure ombre to an Ion Brights Flamingo to Radiant Orchid ombre. The colors are extremely long lasting and do not bleed nor fade if your hair is taken care of the way it should be after this amount of processing and damage has been done. Before you write a review that badmouths an incredible product please help the people that have to read your review by educating yourself.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Color doesn't stay This is the 3rd time I've tried to use this brand within the past 2 months. I barely got the color to stay the 2nd time but that only lasted for about 2 weeks. Tonight the color looked great when I put the dye in my hair and I let it sit for an hour before washing it out and after I washed it, it looked like I didn't even dye my hair.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great Despite Bad Reviews A majority of the people doing their own hair and complaining about patchiness likely didn’t bleach and tone their hair correctly (if you have yellow and orange spots that part of the color will look way different) or they didn’t evenly apply the color. I used Shamrock and while it wasn’t as dark of a green as I was hoping it came out really nice. I reapplied two days after dying and it came out looking even better than before. Be patient with your hair and do everything evenly and it will turn out looking great.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Didn’t stick to my bleach blonde hair It doesn’t stick to my hair. It’s lightened enough, the Pastel lavender by ion stuck to it, but the permanent flamingo pink didn’t do anything except for random patches.

How long does this typically last?

Asked by: Joanna1128
It really depends on your hair, but all semi-permanent dyes will begin to fade after each wash. This dye is far better than manic panic though. It has pure dright color and lasts much longer. you should try adding some dye to your conditioner and use that every time you shower to keep the color bright and redye once a month.

How often can you use this product on your hair? If it starts to fade then when is the soonest you can reapply?

Asked by: Debbie T from Ohio
Since it is semi permanent, you can use it weekly, if need be. If you want the rich color you hope for, then make sure you bleach your roots first (or all your hair, if it’s the first time). Bleaching is only recommended monthly because it’s hard on the scalp.

Can u use foil technique with this color

Asked by: debdob1967
Yes if you want to separate colors that would be ok. Or if you wanted to do a weave. I hope that helped. Feel Free to ask any other questions if you have any. Have a Wonderful Colorful Day :)

With this dye are you able to add conditioner to help with the thickness? I applied this all over my hair in sections and for some reason it’s extremely splotchy, did I do anything wrong?

Asked by: Breanna Solberg
I dont recommend the conditioner too much can especially dilute the product and make it not set properly and if you are going to us mix vey well before applying

Will this semi permanent hair dye work for a person with dark brown hair.. it's actually really dark brown?

Asked by: Dianne 13
I dont think its bright enough you will probably have to bleach it for it to stick to your hair

My hair grabs the color so quickly that I cannot get it on fast enough because of the thickness of the product. Can I dilute it with either water, conditioner or shampoo?

Asked by: pinkplatinum
I use white dye free conditioner to thin mine out. Granted I also mix multiple colors, not using a whole tube or nothing like that, and I get vibrant colors that match the box. I also have dark muted colors from last dye from before and I'm dying mine red, purple and blue and I get crayon level brightness. I let mine set for 45 min after last application and then after rincing I use a color sealer. Having conditioner set in my hair for 45 min helps with the level of softness so much. I love how my hair feels afterwards.
