  • ion Color Brilliance Brights can be applied two different ways.

    1. For the most vibrant result apply to pre-lightened hair. Pre-lighten with ion Color Brilliance Ammonia Free Powder Lightener (not included) to the desired level of lift. It is important to note that the degree of lift achieved with pre-lightening will directly affect the vibrancy and intensity of the final result. Underlying exposed contributing pigment must be taken into consideration. If the hair is orange or a dark yellow this will contribute to the final color.

To achieve a boldly intense brights color, pre-lighten to the level indicated in the table below for each specific color. After pre-lightening, shampoo with ion Color Defense Shampoo. Dry the hair. Apply chosen brights shade directly on dry hair and process for 20 to 40 minutes depending on the level of color intensity desired. Strand test every 5-10 minutes. Heat is not necessary for processing if the hair has been pre-lightened. After processing, thoroughly rinse and apply ion® Color Brilliance After Color Treatment to close the cuticle and lock the color deep inside the hair.

    2. Color shine overlays on natural or color treated hair. Apply brights directly onto natural or color treated dry hair and process for 20 to 40 minutes. For more intense vibrant results, cover the hair with a processing cap and process with heat. Strand test every 5-10 minutes. After processing is completed, thoroughly rinse and apply ion Color Brilliance After Color Treatment to close the cuticle and lock color deep inside the hair.

  • ion Color Brilliance Semi-Permanent Neon Brights are non-oxidative dyes that can be extremely long lasting and may become permanent. Apply to dry, pre-lighten hair.

Should removal be necessary from hair, it is important to know that lightener may not completely remove Neon Brights from hair. ion Color Corrector is not recommended for removal of Neon Brights. It is designed for permanent and semi-permanent color removal.

Always read the product packaging and inserts for complete directions, instructions, and warnings, and make sure to perform both the strand test and the patch test before applying your color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Great Product! Good Saturation! I have used Radiant Orchid 5x times but the most recent time had the best results. I received many compliments on my hair when I was at the hair-and-nail salon today getting a mani. Here is how i did it for my 6” past my shoulder length hair! (Hint: all I did was follow the directions on the inside of the box) Prep> this only works when the part you want colored is bleached already. Step1> make sure your hair is towel dried, meaning a little damp but not dripping with water. Step2> use a liberal amount of color and apply while wearing gloves onto the bleached part of hair you want to color. I used about 20-25% of the tube for 7 highlights plus the crown of my head. Step3> massage the color in, add a little water and/or conditioner to your hair when you massage it in and use hair clips if needed to put your hair up. Step4> wait 15-30 min, use 30 min for dark saturation. No need to use heat! Step5> I added 1 tablespoon of Ion After-color sealer with a little water and massaged it in. I pinned my hair up and waited 15 more minutes. Step6> rinse out your hair with very cold water (I suggest using the kitchen sink to prevent staining the shower). The color sealer bubbles out a lot when rinsing out. I rinsed until there was maybe 10% bubbling rinsing out. I towel dried and used a hair dryer before using a brush on my hair. Use whatever after care products you want on your hair if needed. Results look better the following day for some reason (I colored my hair at 11pm last night and when I woke up the color saturation looked better than when i went to sleep)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No Luck With "Shamrock" My fiancee dyes her hair green, so I bought her the shade "Shamrock" to try out. Despite being applied to level 9 hair, it barely took at all, even after two separate applications. Neither of us is impressed with the results.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lemon I usually love ion, but I absolutely hate the Lemon color. my blonde hair was already yellow and somehow it made it more green.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Color I love this brand and the Radiant Orchid color! It's very easy to apply, and the semi-permanent does not damage my hair. It took a few tubes for full coverage at the beginning, but now I need less than a tube every 2-3 weeks to maintain the color. I get compliments all the time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Trash! It applied beautifully so I had high hopes, a hairdresser friend told me to leave it on for its max time, 48 mins. Hopped in the shower and it washed right out. Waste of money!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not for redheads I bought this hoping to dye the bottom layers of my natural red hair. I prelightened it to the recommended shade and followed the directions and left it for 40 minutes. My hair only has a slight green tint instead of the vibrant green I wanted.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not work I have bleached and dyed hair a hundred times, Ion is my go-to brand, yet no matter how light the hair is before putting the Brilliance in it, it will not hold. I have tried 1-1/2 hr processing times, used pre-color and no pre-color, used foil and no foil, tried heat/no-heat, and yet every time it will just rinse right out immediately. This is a terrible product and I have thrown so much money away trying to make it work.

Is it bad on the scalp to use a whole tube of ion semi perm color every 2 weeks or should only a half tube be used.

Asked by: Divalin1328
I would personally not recommend touching up roots every two weeks. As for how much you are using, it depends if you are just doing the roots or the whole length of hair and it also depends on how long your hair is. My recommendation would be to buy Ion's in-shower color masque and use as needed instead of dying your hair every two weeks. The masques by ion are super vibrant and tend to last 2-4 days (the hot red one lasts a couple weeks). Hope this helps!

I put a box brownish/red on never grey hair. For many months I've used great clarifying shampoo. Now, I have a good amount of grey roots. I was told to use ion Bright White 20 Developer. Creme. I want pastel lav or pink. What if it turns orang/red

Asked by: Sharlean04
if you're lightening your hair that had box brown/red on it, it will be orange no matter what. you will need to get it to a certain lightness before toning will truly make it light enough for a pastel.

I have shoulder length hair. Should one bottle be enough for my head focusing it more towards the bottoms?

Asked by: Belln450
Depending on thickness I would get two just in case

Do I have to mix it with developer or anything?

Asked by: Destiny1714
Yes, you should. It says not to but if you mix it with 20 cream developer or something it works a lot better. I had really ugly light brown, not blonde, hair and when I did this the color stayed for like 4 washes.

How long does this typically last?

Asked by: Joanna1128
It really depends on your hair, but all semi-permanent dyes will begin to fade after each wash. This dye is far better than manic panic though. It has pure dright color and lasts much longer. you should try adding some dye to your conditioner and use that every time you shower to keep the color bright and redye once a month.

How often can you use this product on your hair? If it starts to fade then when is the soonest you can reapply?

Asked by: Debbie T from Ohio
Since it is semi permanent, you can use it weekly, if need be. If you want the rich color you hope for, then make sure you bleach your roots first (or all your hair, if it’s the first time). Bleaching is only recommended monthly because it’s hard on the scalp.

Can u use foil technique with this color

Asked by: debdob1967
Yes if you want to separate colors that would be ok. Or if you wanted to do a weave. I hope that helped. Feel Free to ask any other questions if you have any. Have a Wonderful Colorful Day :)
