Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome color I stopped dying my hair two years or so ago because the bleach would barely work and the color only stayed about 3 weeks. This is my first time using manic panic and I was so surprised my whole head was bleached almost white and my hair is thick and semi dark naturally and dye and bleach doesn’t usually take so it was awesome! And I used rock n roll red and it came out so soooo red! And my hair Isn’t damaged or anything because of it either! It’s way awesome!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for making a red conditioner! I make my own red conditioner with this. Use the red conditioner instead of just conditioner to make your hair color last longer! Just mix it with your favorite color safe conditioner, about 1:1 ratio. Remember to only wash in cold water. I dye my hair with Loreal Hicolor Hilights in red, since my natural hair is black. You would have to bleach your hair first if you use this to dye your hair. With the Loreal product, you don't have to, so that's why I only use this as a red conditioner. I won't have to re-dye my hair for another 3-4 months when my roots starts to show alot, even though they say red fades the fastest. I don't have that problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Vampire Red My boyfriend picked the color by scrolling through Instagram and noticing it caught his eye the most. I had split color half bright pink and half a deep purple. I washed the colors out the best I could but it wasn’t very much. I put the red directly in top and after the first wash the colors were almost identical. The dye covered my old colors very well. I was also able to color my head in half the amount of dye I would normally use. I’m very excited about how everything went and plan to keep buying this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from From Red to Purple - covering stained hair My hair is currently stained red from multiple permanent and semi perm home dye jobs over the years. I wanted to go purple, but the various dyes that I tried wouldn’t cover my red and it just kept coming out magenta. Even bleach baths wouldn’t remove the red, so I did some research on what semi perm dyes will actually COVER another color, and decided to try Manic Panic in Purple Haze next. It definitely covered my red, got a great purple - for about 2 weeks. After that it faded back to the red pretty quickly. Each time I use it though, it fades slower and tones down my red a little more. Couldn’t really ask much more from a semi perm dye. This warm shade of purple goes well with just about any skin tone, and fades to a lovely dusty rose.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Wild Fire This color presents as a red and it is not it is orange. My mom wanted to re dye her hair today so I looked on this app because I love sallys and it is the only place i get my bleach and blue hairdye for myself! but i got this color thinking it would be a red because my mom wants her hair to be a bright red. shes had her hair red already, all we were doing was her roots, bleaching and dying them and we also bleached and dyed the sides and the back of her head. (she has the sides and the back of her head shaved) her hair is now orange and she says she likes it but idk if she really does ,also, because i thought it would be red i dyed over her red hair so it looks so dark at the top and orange everywhere else. im not trying to be mean, im just warning everyone that this may not turn up red in your hair it might turn up orange.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from One Of The Best ive been using manic panic for years now. it smells good. they have a huge range of colors. it mixes well with others. but it doesnt last long for me. thats my only downside to this product. but other than that i recommend this. and the jars are reusable so after im done i can add my own mixes into the jars.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Long lasting I dyed my hair with the voodoo blue during 4th of July weekend. I applied the dye to my natural medium brown hair after shampooing and blowdrying it. I did not use a toner or lighten it at all but it was still noticeably. It faded to green after about 2-3 weeks, so a little more quickly than I'd have hoped. But I liked the green too, so I was fine with it. I'm impressed by how well the green is staying in my hair, considering it's now been 5 months since dying it and it hasn't faded completely. I decided it was finally time to work on getting the green out and head & shoulders + baking soda seems to be working, if slowly. I would consider redying it but it took weeks for the dye to not bleed every time my hair got wet. And I had to rinse my hair for probably over 2 hours the first time for the water to run mostly clear. So it was a little more of a hassle than I anticipated.

I want to try out some different colors but I don’t want it to stain my highlights which are a lighter blonde. Will this completely wash out eventually or will it stain my hair?

Asked by: joshua_r
As with just about any direct deposit, semi-permanent hair dye, these will stain your hair. The colours that will stain the least are light, pastel, or diluted colours (especially a light lilac or purple). You might have more luck diluting the colours with conditioner, or applying them to wet hair, rather than clean, dry hair, but then the colours will be less vibrant. I would stay away from blues and greens as they tend to stain the worst.

Whats the easiest way to apply this?

Asked by: theonlyone666
Hi The Only! Here are the steps: 1. Wash hair with PREPARE TO DYE CLARIFYING SHAMPOO. Do not condition. 2. Dry hair with a blow dryer to remove excess water and ensure the hair is extremely porous and 3. Apply desired Manic Panic hair color. 4. Comb through each section to make sure color is evenly applied and thoroughly saturated (color may become slightly frothy) 5. Leave color on for 30-45 minutes. 6. Rinse hair away from face with gloved hands until the water runs clear 7. Towel and/or blow dry hair. 8. Style as usual. currently medium brown (color treated permanent Ion color) want to have peacock color accents /cobalt blue, lime green, bronze. was thinking electric lizard and after midnight blue. thoughts or suggestions?

Asked by: Sherriled
Hi Sherriled! We do not recommended using our bleach kits (or any bleach) over permanent dyed brown/black hair as it can be very damaging. For best results, I recommend seeking the help of a professional stylist to discuss different options of removing the color. A great way to add a pop of color is to use Manic Panic on clip in or tape in extensions! For more tips, tricks, and assistance please email our color experts customerservice@manicpanic.com

I dyed my hair ashy brown however its to green, if I use any of the reds will it take the greens out with dying my hair very red.

Asked by: Nikki_Texas
Hi Nikki! Depending on the shade of green and what you are trying to achieve it is possible to use a red to make a custom toner and neutralize the ash in your hair. To make a custom toner you will mix a small amount of of red with the Manic® Mixer/Pastel-izer. For best results, I recommend seeking the help of a professional stylist of emailing a picture to our color experts customerservice@manicpanic.com for further assistance!

Purple haze is a red based purple. For grey results try Blue Steel, Silver Stiletto, Alien grey, and introducing Dark Star.

So I have my hair already dyed blue using the blue Splat hair dye. It's been a few days and after a wash I've noticed it's not exactly where I want it to be. If I use Shocking Blue over it do you think it would look good/ok? I've never used this brand...
