Rated 2 out of 5 by from Big disappointment... I used this to color my daughters hair ends. We bleached her hair with manic panic 40volume bleach kit and put this on her hair for recommended time. The initial color payoff and ease of use is great. But the color faded rather quickly and didn't even last for two weeks. We wash her hair twice a week but at first shampoo two days after coloring so much color bled we already knew this was not going to last. The fade was light purple/pink which she adored as much as the original payoff but by the end of two weeks she had bleached ends with very little color. We understand its a semipermanent color, but dont think its worth the trouble and money for what we got.

Would Ultra Purple work for my brown hair without bleach?

Asked by: coolkat778
That depends on the natural color of your hair, the color of the dye, and your desired results. Darker or richer or really vibrant colors will add a subtle tint even to unbleached virgin dark brown/black hair and will only really be visible in the sunlight. However, if you want true to color, bright colors then we recommend pre-lightening your hair to a level 9, or higher, for a true color tone. My hair is currently a light blonde, I’ve been trying to go silver for a while ehat collire will work best ?

Asked by: Kaykaybear
Hi! Although some people’s natural hair may get a slight tint from some of our colors, we cannot and do not guarantee that the color will work properly unless hair has been pre-lightened. It is the porosity of the hair that determines whether or not natural hair picks up the pigments. The actual color of natural hair alone does not determine whether or not bleaching is necessary. Natural blonde hair may require bleaching to become porous just as any other hair color does. Bleaching hair not only makes hair light enough (a level 9 or higher) for the colors to show up properly, it also opens up the cuticles of the hair strands so that the dye molecules can be absorbed. An even and toned level 10 platinum white blonde is required for our silver dyes to work properly. We would love to help you with the process of using our product! what color would you recommend for black hair that isn’t going to be bleached?

Asked by: davonnes
Hi! That depends on the natural color of your hair, the color of the dye, and your desired results. Darker or richer or really vibrant colors will add a subtle tint even to unbleached virgin dark brown/black hair and will only really be visible in the sunlight. For the best results on dark hair without bleaching we recommend our shades in either Vampire Red, Purple Haze, After Midnight, Enchanted Forest, and Green Envy. Results vary from person to person because everyone's hair is different, so regardless of which color you pick, we always recommend doing a strand test to see how the shade will show up on your hair. How long does this color typically last and will it color gray hair? Looking to use it in between box dye

Asked by: vicky31mom
Hi Vicky! Our Classic Manic Panic dyes last 6 weeks depending on porosity, how often you're washing (always use cold water), and the base color. Color may not last as long though in natural or virgin hair as it would in hair that's been lightened. Grey hair can be very resistant to any hair color and even though it is light in color, it often needs to be pre-lightened or otherwise processed in order for Manic Panic Semi-Permanent Hair Color to work best. If not wanting to bleach your hair, before applying Manic Panic, prepare the hair with clarifying shampoo, do not condition, and blow dry hair completely. This process will make sure the cuticle is open, dirt/oils are removed, and the hair is porous. If you'd like to try it out, we suggest doing a strand test on a very small section of your hair by the nape of your neck before applying the color all over. Please contact our color experts via email: customerservice@manicpanic.com we would love to help anytime!

if i have medium brown hair would electric lizard work on it without blech?

Hi! Our Electric Lizard requires the lightest toned level 10 hair to work properly and show up vibrantly in hair. For the best results on brunette hair without bleaching we recommend our shades in either Vampire Red, Purple Haze, After Midnight, Enchanted Forest, and Green Envy.
