Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hair dye It covers gray hair but makes it golden. Washes out if you shampoo your hair a lot more cuz it’s hot outside.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Needs To Last Longer I use this product because they stopped making the silk elements semi permanent. This doesn't last as long & I find myself with more gray sooner than I like.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not work at all Have blonde hair and I filled my hair with red to go back to brown...I’m still blonde. I have no idea why it did not dye to dark brown.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for curly hair I have 3B/3C curls which have been previously bleached and colored. I bought this because my hair was starting to turn orange. It's a great product but it definitely has a drying effect on your hair, however it's nothing a deep conditioning can fix. I have a lot of hair but a little does go a long way with this product

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Would you recommend this product to a friend? I would recommend this product to a friend, as someone did for me. After trying many different products to color my grey, due to an allergic reaction I build up over the years from using permanent hair color, this one is the ONLY one that worked for me as it had no allergy causing product(s) in it. Finally, a hair color that works for those with an allergic reaction to hair color. I followed the instructions and it worked perfectly, every time, over the past several years!!! Once, I made the mistake of leaving it in longer, and using more than specified, and I did get a little dizziness. But knowing the error I made, I never did either again, and it has been absolutely perfect every time!!! There may be another product out there as good as this one, but I never found it!!!! This is a Temporary hair dye, that washes out after several weeks. But I do it myself in about a half hour, wait as long as suggested while I spend time on my computer, and then rinse it out. I love it!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Covering reddish tint. The medium Ash Brown was a good color. However I was trying to cover up a reddish shade from a Medium Warm Brown. It did not get rid of the red, so I ordered the darkest brown from you. I hope it will cover the reddish tint.

I just colored my hair with the cedar red brown and it doesn't suit me at all, can I dye my hair with the darkest brown (same brand) the following day?

Asked by: emmahelp
That's a good question for the manufacturer, since it could be risky.

What two colors would make a nice medium Brown shade with a tint of Mahogany? I have Dark Brown hair w/some grays that are stubborn, tried Natural Instincts and it didn’t cover, hoping this works!

Asked by: Jach2796
try the clairol advanced gray solution. I have dark brown hair and I use #4A(Chia Brown) to cover the gray. It works great, check to see if their is a Mahogany shade for you.

Will this tone down my lightened blonde hair? I use to use ion semi perm neutral blonde to do that & it really made it pretty & conditioned. It's no longer available so looking for a replacement

Asked by: Stonelyrics
Yes, I used ion semi perm and switched to Clairol Beautiful when I couldn't find ion anymore. It is an excellent substitute, even better conditioning, in my opinion. If you stay with a similar color in the Beautiful line you will probably like the results.

Can I mix the light reddish brown and the light golden chestnut? I have reddish brown hair(mixed with some grey at the roots) and I’m afraid if I use the light reddish brown alone it will turn my hair very red. Thanks!

Asked by: Bamagirl93
That’s my favorite mix, such a lovely Strawberry Blonde. I use half and half. That way I have enough for a second treatment in two weeks. If you want a bit more red, add more Cedar. a bit more golden blonde, add more Golden chestnut. You can mix them to your taste. I like the half and half on my bleached blonde frosted hair.

My hair is dark brown/gray will champagne color my hair?

Asked by: SheilaB1
This is semi-permanent so it will mostly wash out after 2 shampoos. If you are changing your hair color, it will not lift your hair color. I use a permanent color on my roots once a month and a Demi-permanent color to blend the new color with the existing. I also use a clear gloss with this. Good luck.

i have naturally brown hair, never dyed,i always just use semi permanent hair color and they never work.im thinking of using the color champagne. will i get that exact color on my hair?

Asked by: newyorkie
It is not likely that you will get that color since your hair is brown. It will likely just look like you have some on the lighter side highlights. I used this color to cover my grays, on brown hair. I ended up using a mixture of champagne, 14K and either a mahogany or cedar rose. I would just squirt a little of each into the palm of my gloved hand, mix it between my palms and then sort of separate sections and rub it in from scalp to ends. Be sure to wipe it from around your face and hairline because it does tend to stain a bit. I usually would wash my hair first in the sink, towel dry it, put on the color, sometimes even let it dry all the way, then wash it out in the shower. There is no risk to your hair if you don't rinse it out in the time allotted because it has no peroxide or ammonia. It actually has a nice aroma to it. And, I actually would rinse it out in the shower, apply conditioner and then leave the conditioner on as I showered, ten minutes or so, then rinse out the conditioner. I have very dry, very frizzy/curly hair. Then I would style as usual with a volume booster such as Nioxin. The color really doesn't last more than a few shampoos, not 6 or 8 or whatever it says on the bottle. I do like the product, but I have gone lighter so now I get color when I go to the salon only. During the lockdown, I used Sebastian Cellophane in Vanilla Blonde. It washed out too, but seemed to saturate better and last longer. Hope this helps!

why is it that 14K Gold is turning my hair red instead blonde? Been using this product for over 20 years. The last 3 bottles I bought turned my hair RED and I hated it. Such a disappointment missed a very important engagement.

Asked by: jasmine777
Similar thing happened to me! Next time I mixed the 14K with the champagne neutral (BOIN).
