Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed I was unhappy with these curlers. I hate to appear stupid but it said “magnetic” curlers. I could not get these to stay in my hair for anything. I just wanted a larger curl on top and although my hair is not real long they just fell out. Due to the low price I did not try to return them, just chalked it up as a lesson learned.

Does this roller need a clip to stay in hair? How does magnetic rollers work?

Asked by: Shawna69
If you set your hair when it’s wet, these work well, but you do need Bobby pins or clips to keep them in place. I use these instead of heat & my usually dry, frizzy hair comes out beautifully!

how do they stay in place?

With a large bobby pin, or hair clip or those old plastic pink stick pins.

how do magnetic rollers work?

Asked by: sizzlingramma
When your hair is wet and slicked with a setting product or leave in conditioner, the end s of your hair stick onto the roller, like a “magnet” hence the name of the rollers. Your hair does need to be fairly wet to use these. Otherwise, the hair will not stick to the rollers. Also, the hair MUST be rolled from ends to roots so that the ends stay smooth. You cannot start in the middle of your hair and wrap the bottom portion and then roll up to the roots. I mean, you could but the ends may come out looking like “fish hooks.” Some people may not like roller setting with wet hair but setting wet hair and then drying 100% gives the longest lasting set; the hair will stay set for days until you wash your hair again.

How do these stay in the hair? Do you need clips or bobby pins?

Asked by: rubybee14
You need to use “all purpose metal clips”. These clips are designed to be used with rollers so that they slide all the way into the hollow of the roller so that the end of the clip does not stick out and get caught on other sections of hair.

How do you secure this roller?  With those plastic picks?  With metal clips or those long bobby pins?

Do theses rollers stay in your hair ? Do you need to use metal clips ? One review said they did not work well .

Asked by: Cathie Shea
Ignore the other review. Magnetic rollers stay in with metal prong clips. While your hair is wet roll your hair on roller and slide clip on roller. Go by a salon and ask a stylist to show you. It's easy and makes the best roller set!
