ion Color Brilliance Intensive Shine Demi Permanent Creme Hair Color is a state-of-the-art European Ionic Formula that is a luxurious, long-lasting, deposit-only hair color without ammonia. This hair color covers and blends gray hair up to 100% without lifting the hair's natural pigment. The formula will allow same-day color with chemical relaxers and permanent waves.

ion Hair Color’s superior quality, proprietary blends are formulated in Italy by our expert team of chemists to deliver unparalleled results. Our unique system combines the finest quality natural and exotic ingredients with powerful high-tech compounds to achieve exquisite, brilliant color with superior gray coverage. ion Hair Color science relies on the power of micro-pigmentation—our microscopic pigment molecules oxidize slower, allowing them to penetrate deep into the cortex of each hair strand for long-lasting, fade-resistant color.

ion's formulas are PPD-free and enriched with Hyaluronic Acid, Argan Oil, Pequi Oil, and botanicals to nourish and strengthen hair from within. Not to mention, ion Hair Color is gentle on hair, containing up to 38% less ammonia than the leading professional brands on the market. Unlock your hair’s true potential with Ion’s cutting-edge, salon-quality color science and bring home vibrancy like never before.

The Ionic formula provides protection for stronger hair structure. ion Color Brilliance Demi Permanent Creme Hair Color contains botanically derived nourishing ingredients with a refreshing fragrance.

  • Select desired shade. Mix 2 oz. of ion Intensive Shine Demi Hair Color with 4 oz. ion Sensitive Scalp Creme Developer 10 Volume in a non-metallic bowl. Mixing ratio is 1:2 unless otherwise noted. All instructions are based on average texture, normal porosity; Fine hair is much more receptive to hair coloring where coarse hair is not.

Use ion Color Brilliance Pre-Color Treatment to help ensure even color results from scalp to ends. A five-minute cool down is recommended if heat is used prior to rinsing. Standard processing time is 10-40 minutes at room temperature and 10-15 minutes with heat. After processing, rinse hair thoroughly until the water runs clear. Shampoo and style as desired.
  • Demi-permanent hair color is the most versatile kind of haircolor, because it lasts much longer than semi-permanent color (up to six weeks). It is sometimes referred to as deposit-only hair color or non-lift deposit-only color, because it’s formulated to deposit (add), but not to lift (lighten) color. Demi-permanent color is ideal for blending or covering gray (up to 100 percent!) and enhancing, deepening, or changing the tone of your natural color. It also adds intense shine.

Always wear gloves. Using a non-metallic bowl or tint bottle, mix 2 oz. of ion Color Brilliance Intensive Shine Demi Permanent Creme Hair Color with either 2 oz. or 4 oz. ion Sensitive Scalp Creme Developer 10 volume. Apply mixture immediately after mixing to dry hair. Do not store mixture; container may burst.

For natural, non-color-treated hair (virgin application):  Apply  formula to the scalp area.  Immediately work through mid-lengths and ends.

For Retouching:  Apply formula to the scalp (new growth) area.  Process for half the recommended processing time, and then work formula through the mid-lengths and ends.  Finish processing. Because 45-50% of color loss is attributed to shampooing, it is imperative to use hair care products formulated for color-treated hair.

Always read the product packaging and inserts for complete directions, instructions, and warnings, and make sure to perform both the strand test and the patch test before applying your color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product I wanted shiny healthy-looking hair without changing my natural color and that is exactly what this did for me. I purchased the color 00 Clear in a store on the advice of the saleswoman. Off topic, but I gotta say, each time I've been in the Sally store, I've come away with a product I'm happy with. This product made my hair look years younger! My hair came out shiny and soft and so far its held up through about 6 shampoos.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Online ordering treacherous; not good cust serv Arrived on my doorstep frozen and Sally has left it to me to find time to go to a store and get my money back. If I had time to go to a store, then I wouldn't have ordered it online!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I wanted! After reading for hours I finally decided to bite the bullet. I have natural level 5-6 medium brown hair and after years of bleaching have been left with warm, brassy not flattering “blonde” hair. I decided it was time to get back to my natural. I had level 8-9 brassy hair and I decided to use a mixture of 2 parts 8N to 1 part 10N and 10 vol to dye my hair. I wanted to end up about a level 7 light brown. I was very worried about it going too dark as the reviews said but I’m happy with my choice, turned out just the right color. Definitely recommend going up 2-3 levels lighter than your desired color. Overall, great product! Loving it so far

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Delightfully Surprised I used the 6VV on my hair and the color came out really pretty, I received a lot of compliments and it gave my hair a nice shine. I reccomended the 9NA as a toner all the time to customers while I worked at Sally's, and one time I forgot to tell a customer to do 1 to 2 parts when toning blonde hair. It says to do that in the directions when toning, but the customer was so mad when she called, but it's an easy fix if that happens, just get an ion clarifying packet and it'll take some of the pigment out. Long story short, ALWAYS read directions!! This color can be used 1 to 1 when you want a lot of deposit and 1 to 2 for toning or enhancing faded color. Also, the longer you leave it, the darker it will get.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not impressed I’ve been using ion hair colours for about 5 years. I was going for a purple gray colour and as that was the colour of the test hair that was under the box colour, instead my hair went red. :(

I use the 7WR color. Every Sally store in Springfield Missouri is out of it. What is the problem? Please do not discontinue it!

Asked by: Marilyn Kay
It's been gone out of my store for may months too. I switched to Chi because the color selection keeps dwindling

Will 1NA be blue at all, or does blue black just mean that it won't bring out the red in my hair? Also, is the demi color good for resistant white hairs? My hair is already a darkest brown/soft black, except for the white hairs.

Asked by: Bee Em Kay
From what I have read the blue black color is very dark black with blue showing when you are outdoors. I have wondered if a 3N with the 1NA would make a soft black. That's the closest to my hair.

My hair is currently a medium copper brown and my white - not gray - white roots are showing 2 weeks after salon coloring. Which shade of the Ion Demi Permanent color will cover my roots but not darken my hair?

Asked by: kathie56
Not sure, but in general I've found that I need to go several shades lighter than expected with this demi-permanent - it's really dark.

I have mixed grey and black hair, would love to see hair all white one color hair, what do you recommend

Asked by: Neddie85
I have dark auburn brown and some gray hair. I purposely use a color a few shades lighter so that the grays look like highlights. I would guess if you choose a color that’s the same as your natural color, it will all look the same.

Can i use demi color over permanent color that i don't like? Want to put demi on grown out roots, can i put it over the permanent color as well?

Asked by: MLM032758
Yes you can put on your roots to cover the new growth, use 20 vol. It you put it over the permanent color , (use 10 vol) but you will only be depositing color, Demi color does not lift color only deposits color.

For short hair do you still use the whole tube of color

Asked by: SheilaJo
I have used half a tube of a demi permanent and half of the colorant of a box permanent color to color my graying blonde hair which is chin length and fine. Half a tube works. Why waste product or put it down the sink or in the trash? It is not something you want to drink from a water supply. Plus, you save money. Just close the tube tightly. You will be mixing the products together well, anyway. If more color is in the bottom of the tube--how? it is not likely to be a striking difference, and you won't have stripes in your hair!

I used Demi in the shade Medium Golden Brown and it is almost black and looks terrible! What can I do to fix it?

Asked by: Demi1234
With these demi colors they will always be a bit darker then expected.  I usually wash it out a couple shampoos and then put something a little lighter over it.  Otherwise I just grin and bear it and let it fade off.

This is probably a dumb question, I’m a novice.  Can I use this after my permanent 6R for shine w/ developer? I use 20 on gray and 10 when I pull thru ends. Or, do I mix w/ permanent color?  If so, how much do I mix?

Asked by: KCdoc590
Most importantly there is no need to mix permanent and demi color together. Demi color is for depositing color only. Depending on how much gray you have you can use it to cover minimal gray or use for gray blending depending on level of color desired. Can be used to refresh color with demi clear for longer lasting results
