ion Color Brilliance Intensive Shine Demi Permanent Creme Hair Color is a state-of-the-art European Ionic Formula that is a luxurious, long-lasting, deposit-only hair color without ammonia. This hair color covers and blends gray hair up to 100% without lifting the hair's natural pigment. The formula will allow same-day color with chemical relaxers and permanent waves.

ion Hair Color’s superior quality, proprietary blends are formulated in Italy by our expert team of chemists to deliver unparalleled results. Our unique system combines the finest quality natural and exotic ingredients with powerful high-tech compounds to achieve exquisite, brilliant color with superior gray coverage. ion Hair Color science relies on the power of micro-pigmentation—our microscopic pigment molecules oxidize slower, allowing them to penetrate deep into the cortex of each hair strand for long-lasting, fade-resistant color.

ion's formulas are PPD-free and enriched with Hyaluronic Acid, Argan Oil, Pequi Oil, and botanicals to nourish and strengthen hair from within. Not to mention, ion Hair Color is gentle on hair, containing up to 38% less ammonia than the leading professional brands on the market. Unlock your hair’s true potential with Ion’s cutting-edge, salon-quality color science and bring home vibrancy like never before.

The Ionic formula provides protection for stronger hair structure. ion Color Brilliance Demi Permanent Creme Hair Color contains botanically derived nourishing ingredients with a refreshing fragrance.

  • Select desired shade. Mix 2 oz. of ion Intensive Shine Demi Hair Color with 4 oz. ion Sensitive Scalp Creme Developer 10 Volume in a non-metallic bowl. Mixing ratio is 1:2 unless otherwise noted. All instructions are based on average texture, normal porosity; Fine hair is much more receptive to hair coloring where coarse hair is not.

Use ion Color Brilliance Pre-Color Treatment to help ensure even color results from scalp to ends. A five-minute cool down is recommended if heat is used prior to rinsing. Standard processing time is 10-40 minutes at room temperature and 10-15 minutes with heat. After processing, rinse hair thoroughly until the water runs clear. Shampoo and style as desired.
  • Demi-permanent hair color is the most versatile kind of haircolor, because it lasts much longer than semi-permanent color (up to six weeks). It is sometimes referred to as deposit-only hair color or non-lift deposit-only color, because it’s formulated to deposit (add), but not to lift (lighten) color. Demi-permanent color is ideal for blending or covering gray (up to 100 percent!) and enhancing, deepening, or changing the tone of your natural color. It also adds intense shine.

Always wear gloves. Using a non-metallic bowl or tint bottle, mix 2 oz. of ion Color Brilliance Intensive Shine Demi Permanent Creme Hair Color with either 2 oz. or 4 oz. ion Sensitive Scalp Creme Developer 10 volume. Apply mixture immediately after mixing to dry hair. Do not store mixture; container may burst.

For natural, non-color-treated hair (virgin application):  Apply  formula to the scalp area.  Immediately work through mid-lengths and ends.

For Retouching:  Apply formula to the scalp (new growth) area.  Process for half the recommended processing time, and then work formula through the mid-lengths and ends.  Finish processing. Because 45-50% of color loss is attributed to shampooing, it is imperative to use hair care products formulated for color-treated hair.

Always read the product packaging and inserts for complete directions, instructions, and warnings, and make sure to perform both the strand test and the patch test before applying your color.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from More like black-brown, but still my go-to My hair is naturally very dark—more black than brown but also not quite full-on black. I used to color with this brand’s Blue-Black but switched to 3N Dark Natural Brown, it’s very dark, I would call this color black-brown so keep that in mind. I use it to cover the grays that started creeping up recently since turning 34, but honestly I feel like I start seeing grays again within 2-3 weeks. Other than that it’s a great, easy color with lots of shine

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very dark Apparently medium golden brown = almost black. I think the company needs to correct their instructions. Bc it's "demi" permanent I'm not freaking out, but I really hope this fades soon. I didn't want black hair.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hair color Progress! This product is great! The color comes out just as it says. One thing one should know, the longer you keep it in the darker your hair will be. When I color again, I w not let it stay in as long. Overall, it came out wonderful.

Hi - I want to buy this to blend highlights that are too light. My hair is a medium brown and the highlights are blond - would like to tone them to a light brown = will this work? Help! All hair dressers are closed! ANY other suggestions ?

Asked by: racheleno
I've done this in the past but am a novice and cannot say with certainty how the color may react with your hair type and the bling color of your highlights. My hair is med brown and I used a dark ash blond to cover gray roots and lighten the highlights. I did not want a brassy color. I like this brand very much and would recommend it under normal circumstances...that is, no other combination of hair colors on your head

My hair is colored by stylist a warm med brown with warm red highlights. With Demi 7w and it turned grays a raspberry reddish, and the brown highlights are raspberry tone. To warm this up next time shall I mix 6N or 7NA? Also need better gray coverage

Asked by: arty cook
I would stay away from ash tones if you are wanting to keep it warm. 6N will be a little darker or you can just mix the 7N at 1:1 and leave it on longer for better gray coverage.

Does this color need to be mix with a developer

Asked by: GraGra22
Absolutely!  The cream alone will do nothing.  Please mix with the developer recommended on the label!  You will be happy.

Hi, I've been using 5N w/a 20 developer to touch up my roots. I have blond/brown highlights (but not super close to my scalp) Anyways it pretty dark, can you suggest one shade lighter? thanks :)

Asked by: Coley724
I mix blonde and brown to get a lighter brown. It even seems to pick up highlights.

I don't know but I would recommend you ask the manufacturer directly so you receive a viable response. So sorry...

Want to cover my bayalage and go back to brown. What color would I fill the blonde with?

Asked by: Steph159
You would choose your natural hair color, keeping in mind that the demi permanent is on the darker side for brown.

Does anyone know if the “Clear” can be used to “strip” direct dye colors (i.e. Arctic Fox) much like the Pravana Lightening Booster?

Asked by: ItsLaney
I don't think so. It does not affect the color of my 9nb demi permanent dyed hair. You'll probably need something like color oops.

What is the closest Demi ion color brilliance to 9ng? Is 8a closest?

Asked by: Lynn Ellen
The level 8's are quite dark in the demi series. I would stick with a level 9 . 9n alone or use a tube of 9g combined with a tube of 9n. The problem is that those shades have become difficult to find, possibly discontinued? I have resorted to using the permanent color with a 5 or 10 volume developer. It has been working for me.
