ion Color Brilliance Intensive Shine Demi Permanent Creme Hair Color is a state-of-the-art European Ionic Formula that is a luxurious, long-lasting, deposit-only hair color without ammonia. This hair color covers and blends gray hair up to 100% without lifting the hair's natural pigment. The formula will allow same-day color with chemical relaxers and permanent waves.

ion Hair Color’s superior quality, proprietary blends are formulated in Italy by our expert team of chemists to deliver unparalleled results. Our unique system combines the finest quality natural and exotic ingredients with powerful high-tech compounds to achieve exquisite, brilliant color with superior gray coverage. ion Hair Color science relies on the power of micro-pigmentation—our microscopic pigment molecules oxidize slower, allowing them to penetrate deep into the cortex of each hair strand for long-lasting, fade-resistant color.

ion's formulas are PPD-free and enriched with Hyaluronic Acid, Argan Oil, Pequi Oil, and botanicals to nourish and strengthen hair from within. Not to mention, ion Hair Color is gentle on hair, containing up to 38% less ammonia than the leading professional brands on the market. Unlock your hair’s true potential with Ion’s cutting-edge, salon-quality color science and bring home vibrancy like never before.

The Ionic formula provides protection for stronger hair structure. ion Color Brilliance Demi Permanent Creme Hair Color contains botanically derived nourishing ingredients with a refreshing fragrance.

  • Select desired shade. Mix 2 oz. of ion Intensive Shine Demi Hair Color with 4 oz. ion Sensitive Scalp Creme Developer 10 Volume in a non-metallic bowl. Mixing ratio is 1:2 unless otherwise noted. All instructions are based on average texture, normal porosity; Fine hair is much more receptive to hair coloring where coarse hair is not.

Use ion Color Brilliance Pre-Color Treatment to help ensure even color results from scalp to ends. A five-minute cool down is recommended if heat is used prior to rinsing. Standard processing time is 10-40 minutes at room temperature and 10-15 minutes with heat. After processing, rinse hair thoroughly until the water runs clear. Shampoo and style as desired.
  • Demi-permanent hair color is the most versatile kind of haircolor, because it lasts much longer than semi-permanent color (up to six weeks). It is sometimes referred to as deposit-only hair color or non-lift deposit-only color, because it’s formulated to deposit (add), but not to lift (lighten) color. Demi-permanent color is ideal for blending or covering gray (up to 100 percent!) and enhancing, deepening, or changing the tone of your natural color. It also adds intense shine.

Always wear gloves. Using a non-metallic bowl or tint bottle, mix 2 oz. of ion Color Brilliance Intensive Shine Demi Permanent Creme Hair Color with either 2 oz. or 4 oz. ion Sensitive Scalp Creme Developer 10 volume. Apply mixture immediately after mixing to dry hair. Do not store mixture; container may burst.

For natural, non-color-treated hair (virgin application):  Apply  formula to the scalp area.  Immediately work through mid-lengths and ends.

For Retouching:  Apply formula to the scalp (new growth) area.  Process for half the recommended processing time, and then work formula through the mid-lengths and ends.  Finish processing. Because 45-50% of color loss is attributed to shampooing, it is imperative to use hair care products formulated for color-treated hair.

Always read the product packaging and inserts for complete directions, instructions, and warnings, and make sure to perform both the strand test and the patch test before applying your color.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Dark and shiny Beautiful colour, and shiny, but way darker than expected in appearance at first as all ion colours seem to do until after quite a few washes.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Shade names don't match color, inconsistent "Demi" My natural hair color is now mostly white. Last summer when I got tired of the white look, I decided to try to dye my hair back to it's original dark brown, so I went to Sally Beauty where they recommended I first try a Demi in the lightest blonde shade close to my current white color before going darker and that it will wash out in about 24 washes. That shade of Demi did absolutely nothing to my hair color. So a month later I went back and looked at the swatches and bought a dark blonde color. As others have mentioned, the shade names DO NOT indicate the color you will get, as the swatch showed a dark brown. That's what I wanted so I bought it. It turned out a bit too dark, but luckily it did mostly wash out. My hair grows pretty fast so in 2 weeks I've already got a lot of white roots showing, so the next time about a month later I tried 6G Dark Golden Blonde (shown in pic). This gave me a gorgeous medium brown with slight red highlights that I love and get a lot of compliments on. The first time I used it, again it mostly washed out. The second time I used this color, it DID NOT wash out AT ALL. Since then, it's been inconsistent on whether it washes out, for example the last application washed off my roots in only about a week. I do like how it makes my hair overall smooth and glossy, and that there's supposedly no ammonia or color stripping. Yesterday I was advised at the store they are discontinuing 6G and several other colors in the Demi line, so I'm going to try 7W Medium Warm Blonde since the swatch looks nearly identical. Bottom line - make sure you look at the swatch in the store first, and make sure you are ok with it if it never washes out. Maybe someone is mixing up the Permanent with the Demi Permanent color in the line at the factory. If there's different brand of Demi out there that you know works better, let me know. Ion Demi is the only one I can find here in my area.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Be careful I bought this in the shade medium burgundy brown, and it turned my medium brown hair BLACK. And not even like a pretty soft black. It's an unnatural harsh black that doesn't look good with my skin tone at all. The product itself was easy to apply and did leave a rich, even tone behind. Didn't appear to damage the hair. But when I buy a burgundy dye, I expect burgundy, not jet black. Will be going to buy something to remove the color because this wasn't the look I was going for.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible, Unreliable product I remembered today why I haven't used ION Color in over 5+ years. It's horrible. You would be better off buying a Semi Permanent in the store. At least you would get close to the color on the box. I bought the Light Red Brown Semi Permanent used with 10 Vol Developer over level 4 hair. All I wanted was a burgundy tone. Left in on for 15 minutes and it is JET BLACK with not a HINT of red! Plus it was ridiculously messy and liquidy. Horrible! I will never buy this brand again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ion Demi 8N As with most demi hair colors, this one will come out much darker than the actual level you're trying to achieve, so be aware of this - takes some time to fade out. I didn't love the tone of this hair color and will not buy it again. Specifically, it came out very flat and gray toned, almost as if it were an ash.

If a certain hair color is not available (ie a line through the color sample), does that mean it is simply out of stock or that you no longer carry it?  Thank you so much!  Judy

Asked by: Judykins
From my experience yes that’s what it means.

i bleached my dirty blonde hair and it turned orange. I’m not sure what to do next ? tone it? redye it? demi it?

Asked by: shelbysingleton
Toning could be an option or it may be necessary to lighten the hair more to pull out more orange in order to completely reduce the brass. Test stranding a toner first would be the nest place to start.

Do I need to use a developer if my hair is virgin. Can I just put the product in my hair as is?

Asked by: Liz59524
You need to use the developer. That's what causes the chemical reaction that dies your hair.

Wanting to color my hair and I had some red in my hair So do I need a color that has a ash color or a neutral

Asked by: Tbrazulis
If you do not want red in your hair, you need to stay away from any color that will let it through. Because my natural color has a lot of red undertones I have learned if I do not use an ash, my hair just looks red after coloring. So I use ash blond and ash brown (I combine them) to get a color that looks warm, but not red.

what is the difference in tones between natural blond and golden blonde?  What has happened to the stock of golden blond?

Asked by: SiriusOne
Natural Blonde is more subdued, not as bright gold tones. It looks like all the blonde demi permanent products are being discontinued. You cannot even get them online. I just tried ION permanent color using it with 10 volume developer instead of 20. It looks good but time will tell if my roots are obvious !
