  • Brilliantly intense hair color No ammonia or peroxide Formulated in Italy Ready to use
ion Color Brilliance Semi-Permanent Brights Hair Color are hi-fashion hair color shades designed to give vivid, boldly intense results. In twenty to forty minutes ion Color Brilliance Brights deposits color on pre-bleached natural or color treated hair. ion Color Brilliance Brights can be applied to pre-lightened hair, natural, or colored hair. ion Hair Color’s superior quality, proprietary blends are formulated in Italy by our expert team of chemists to deliver unparalleled results. Our unique system combines the finest quality natural and exotic ingredients with powerful high-tech compounds to achieve exquisite, brilliant color. ion Hair Color science relies on the power of micro-pigmentation-- ion's microscopic pigment molecules oxidize slower, allowing them to penetrate deep into the cortex of each hair strand for long-lasting, fade-resistant color
  • ion Color Brilliance Semi-Permanent Brights Hair Color can be applied two different ways. 1. For the most vibrant result apply to pre-lightened hair. Pre-lighten with Ion Color Brilliance Ammonia Free Powder Lightener (not included) to the desired level of lift. It is important to note that the degree of lift achieved with pre-lightening will directly affect the vibrancy and intensity of the final result. Underlying exposed contributing pigment must be taken into consideration. If the hair is orange or a dark yellow this will contribute to the final color. To achieve a boldly intense brights color, pre-lighten to the level indicated in the table below for each specific color. After pre-lightening, shampoo with ion Color Defense Shampoo. Dry the hair. Apply chosen brights shade directly on dry hair and process for 20 to 40 minutes depending on the level of color intensity desired. Strand test every 5-10 minutes. Heat is not necessary for processing if the hair has been pre-lightened. After processing, thoroughly rinse and apply ion® Color Brilliance After Color Treatment to close the cuticle and lock the color deep inside the hair. 2. Color shine overlays on natural or color treated hair. Apply brights directly onto natural or color treated dry hair and process for 20 to 40 minutes. For more intense vibrant results, cover the hair with a processing cap and process with heat. Strand test every 5-10 minutes. After processing is completed, thoroughly rinse and apply ion Color Brilliance After Color Treatment to close the cuticle and lock color deep inside the hair
  • ion Color Brilliance Semi-Permanent Brights Hair Color are non-oxidative dyes that can be extremely long lasting and may become permanent. Apply to dry, pre-lighten hair. Should removal be necessary from hair, it is important to know that lightener may not completely remove Brights from hair. ion Color Corrector is not recommended for removal of Brights. It is designed for permanent and Demi-Permanent color removal. Always read the product packaging and inserts for complete directions, instructions, and warnings, and make sure to perform both the strand test and the patch test before applying your color.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE this color! I am naturally grey/white hair. I have been looking for a smokey steel grey color to tone done the "old lady" hair color (I'm a young 58 year old). I looked for a long time for a color that would work on my hair. I FOUND IT!! I love love love it! I have used this color twice. The first time I liked it but I wanted a little more purple. The second time I added a pencil eraser sized drop of Ion Color Brilliance Brights Purple and it was exactly what I was looking for. I've been shopping at here and have used Ion color products for years. I was very pleased with this color. As someone else said, this does not require developer so it is super gentle on my hair. Thank you!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Didn't dye my hair AT ALL I had bleached my hair maybe 3 or 4 days ago because I wanted to dye it gray. I walked into Sally's and asked the girl working what grays they have. She recommended to me Storm and Violet Gray. The next day, I mixed the colors in separate bowls with conditioner to hopefully make the dye last longer (this has worked with other dyes I've used before.) Showered and... nada. Absolutely no difference. I just tried dying my hair AGAIN, and came out of the shower... ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I used up both tubes of dye that I bought in effort to get my hair to turn gray and it didn't dye my hair at all. I doubt I can even get a refund now since I used all of the dye in efforts to color my hair. So bummed that this didn't work. Onto another gray dye that will HOPEFULLY do SOMETHING to my hair.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not for me I used smokey amethyst and violet gray on my hair yesterday and first off I am a solid 10 maybe 11 level platinum blonde and I kept this product on for nearly an hour after spending however long painting it on my hair. No I didnt mix anything I wasnt supposed to with it and I rinsed with cold water. The colors of these are deceiving. The smokey amethyst is actually darker then the violet gray. I put the Gray on the roots of my hair and ombred the smokey amethyst down it the ends and after an hour rinsed and it was okay but not for the strands pictured online and in store it was very bland no pop of color it basically looked like I left a purple shampoo on my head a little to long. Which really sicked because I so badly wanted these gorgeous colors to work!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good grey toner, hard to use To be fair, turning your hair grey is difficult to begin with and pros even struggle with it. With that said this is the best grey color I've used. It does a great job toning my hair grey as opposed to pale blue, purple, or green. However, with all Ion Brights I've used, the product is hard to work with because it's so thick and doesn't spread well. I usually end up with patches that didn't get well saturated and have to reapply to those spots. And it doesn't help that it gets really frothy upon application, so you can't easily see what you're doing or how well it's distributed or saturated. Something that I should mention because it would make the whole process easier for a lot of people is that it is more of a toner than a dye, per se. I've found that if you lighten your hair to a brassy color it works best because the dye is violet or blue toned, so the yellow-ish hair color cancels out the dye color, resulting in grey. Also buy like three times more than you think you'll need, and by all means let it process overnight. For my short hair, two tubes is "enough" for the first round, then I need one more to cover the unsaturated patches. I would love to give this stuff two more stars, but the formula is a massive pain in the butt to use. Yet the result keeps me coming back, so I do strongly recommend it for relatively easy-to-use grey dye. Hope this helps!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Love the color, but doesn’t have staying power I love this color, but for some reason the recent batches I’ve used either don’t stay on parts of my hair after 90 minutes or it washes out within two weeks. I’ve used this color before and have not had this problem; in fact it lasted a few months.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful Metallic Tones! Please never pull these off the self! I use this entire series of colors by ION. I use their whole collection but these are by far my favorite to have fun with. The smokey amethyst is such a gorgeous metallic like pastel lavender, I absolutely adore it with an opal color palette! For those complaining about the tone, check your level and as to one review I read.... really? Licensed and you're using developer with a direct color?.... People like that are what give wonderful products like this ratings it doesn't deserve! These colors need to be applied to very light blonde, you can get away with a level 9 but you really want that white blonde to use these with to get the best tones out of it. At minimum, the inside of a banana peel type yellow if you can't get the white lift. Will add photos soon when I get the chance to snap some photos ^_^

I’ve purchase this trying to dye to my black hair grey and it didn’t lift. What am I’m doing wrong? Do I need to purchase anything extra?

Asked by: Bill3374
Yes, you must bleach your black hair first. For these semi permanent hair colors your hair needs to be lighter than the shade of gray you’re trying to achieve. Once you bleach, the gray should cover, but I must warn you, even though these colors warn how difficult they are to remove or fade and may become permanent, I found they fade with one or two washes with a purple shampoo. This may not be the case with everyone but I’ve tried two grays with the same outcome.

Hello, looking at the Ion brands Grey’s semi permanent hair color and I’m wondering if it’s a good choice to achieve a silver color to my already existing light blonde hair? I want a little change but don’t think I want to do permanent color. Thanks!

Asked by: Marelder
It washes completely out by about 2 or 3 weeks and you can try different shades. I stopped using silver toner

I have thick hair & dyed with clairol permanent light cool brown so it’s a bit  dry but it’s still shines. I want it to stay a very cool brown w/out a lot of damage &my hair was dyed b4 I dyed it brown. Think storm make it a silvery brown like a toner? Ty

Asked by: NatGioco5
Hello, in my experience, (I tried titanium colour and storm colour) I find the colour just doesn’t catch unless your hair is very lightened. I have lighter brown hair with bleached streaks, and I wanted to use the semi permanent gray colour as a kind of toner to rule out any gold or copper tones from my brown. It didn’t catch very well on the brown. It does cover you brown and darken the colour for about 10 days, but it’s not a good mid to long term toning solution I find. Hope this helps!

I have bleached blonde hair, I'm looking for something to achieve a silver tone to my hair, can you help me?

Asked by: Carolyn05
I'm not a beautician, but to achieve silver/dark gray hair, I apply a toner after bleaching and before using silver dye: mix one part Wella T14 pale ash blonde (or other shade of your choice) with two parts 20 volume developer. Sometimes I add a capful or two of Wella 050 cooling violet. Let process for up to 30 minutes, then rinse.
